    Raleigh, NC     Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

Marine Fisheries Commission

    •   Mark Gorges (New Hanover County) - Gorges is currently a Partnership Developer with Castle Branch, Inc. He also serves as CEO and President of Seaward Action, Inc., developing several marine-related brands of services and products. He is certified as a U.S. Coast Guard operator of uninspected passenger vessels. Gorges will serve in the seat designated for a recreational fisherman.

    •   Charles Laughridge III (Carteret County) - A lifelong sportsman, Laughridge co-chaired the first advisory committee (on finfish) for striped bass in the 1990s. He has been active in fisheries management for three decades. He is an investment advisor. Laughridge will serve as an at-large appointment.

    •  Paul Rose (Currituck County) - Rose is a flounder and crab fisherman. He is a small seafood dealer and spends much of his time on the water. He has served on the Flounder Advisory Committee. He will serve as the commercial fisherman appointment. Rose has been appointed as chairman of the commission.

    The commission manages, restores, develops, cultivates, conserves, protects and regulates the marine and estuarine resources within its jurisdiction. The commission also implements laws relating to coastal fisheries, coastal fishing, shellfish, crustaceans and other marine and estuarine resources enacted by the General Assembly. The commission has nine members, each serving a three-year term.
