Born: November 27, 1923, Died: August 08, 2013

Karl Busbee "K.B." Dickerson was welcomed Home Thursday, August 8, 2013.

Born, November 27, 1923, to the late TE and Verna Dickerson, he was raised in Pitt County, NC along with his seven siblings. He married the love of his life in 1946, Evelyn James Dickerson, and they shared 67 wonderful years.

K.B was blessed with good health and a strong work ethic and he used these gifts to serve his, family, country, church and community. His service in the US Army during WWII carried him throughout Europe. His passion for hard work and business ventures took him and his family to several NC cities where he was always active in his community and church. After retiring to Washington, NC he became an active member of First Baptist Church, leading committees and volunteering in many areas. His love for the Building Committee was evident and he served faithfully. He loved life and lived it to its fullest; he cherished his family and friends from all walks of life and was happiest surrounded by them; he loved his Lord and lived to honor Him.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn James Dickerson; four children: Brenda Dickerson Bateman (Bill) of Raleigh; Karl Michael Dickerson (Jean), Blount's Creek; Dallas Eugene Dickerson (Carla), Grimesland; Lisa Dickerson Sams (Roger), Williamsburg, Va; Brother, Sellers Dickerson, Greenville; Sisters: Orpha Evans, Greenville; Juanita Lewis, Greenville; Myrtle Hanchey, Goldsboro; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the loving friends and caregivers who have walked this past month with them -- including the nurses, doctors and staff at Vidant Health Care, Washington; HOSPICE of Greenville; and caregivers in the home. In lieu of flowers, contributions to First Baptist Church, Building Committee, 113 N. Harvey St., Washington, NC 27889; or Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 would be appreciated.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 11 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm at First Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3:00pm.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Dickerson family.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saint! Ps. 116:15
