We now have a test case that shows it is actually quite positive for the economy. All we have to do is look at the results of Florida's crackdown on illegal aliens a year and a half ago. As the left predicted, that encouraged many illegal aliens to leave the state, but the economic impact was the opposite of what the left predicted. Florida's economy has thrived with a lesser population of illegal aliens.

Its construction, agriculture, and tourism industries boomed. The use of Emergency Medical Assistance, the fund tapped by hospitals to pay for healthcare for illegal aliens fell by half.
