Janice Kay Dunshee Baynor | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Janice Kay Dunshee Baynor, age 83, a resident of Pantego, NC died Saturday January 18, 2025, at her home with family by her side.

    A funeral service will be held 2;00 P.M. Saturday January 25, 2025, at Wilkinson Church of Christ officiated by Robert Spruill. A burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington. Jacob Hardison, Jackson Wetherby, R.A. Phillips, Mark Benson, Carr Baynor, and John Blackburn will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the church.

    Mrs. Baynor was born in Beaufort County on November 27, 1941, daughter of the late Guy Albert Dunshee and the late Metta Elaine Benson Dunshee. She was a 1960 graduate of Pantego High School and continued her education at East Carolina College. On May 21, 1961, she married Vernon "Wayne" Baynor who preceded her in death on July 17, 2019. Her working career began in 1969 with Tideland Electric Corporation where she was manager of finance and customer service until her retirement in 2004. She loved cooking, shopping, reading, lunch and dinner with friends, and was eager to do anything needed at her church, Wilkinson Church of Christ. Her life can be summed up as a "friend to many".

    Survivors include her daughters: Donna Baynor of Pantego, and Jena Baynor (Karl Neal) of Apex; four grandchildren: Ashlie Ivy, Jacob Hardison (Madison), Chelsea Caddell (Keenan), and Jackson Wetherby (Katie); and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Baynor was predeceased, along with her parents and husband, and by a brother: Jason Dunshee.
