WASHINGTON, N.C.    Beaufort County Community College (Beaufort CCC) is proud to announce its top-tier ranking in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) for persistence and progression metrics. For the most recent cohort, Beaufort CCC ranked first among community colleges in North Carolina of similar size and tenth among all 58 NCCCS colleges statewide.

The college achieved an impressive 76.7% in NCCCS' Persistence/Progression measure, significantly surpassing the statewide average of 70.1%. This metric highlights the percentage of first-time fall credential-seeking curriculum students who either graduate before the subsequent fall term or continue their education by enrolling at a university.

Persistence and progression are key indicators of a college's effectiveness in supporting students. They measure how well institutions help students overcome obstacles to continue their education, gain essential skills, and achieve their goals. These metrics also reflect a college's commitment to academic excellence and student success, fostering confidence among students, employers, and the community.

Dr. David Loope, President of Beaufort CCC, attributed this success to the college's dedicated faculty, staff, and innovative support services. "We have made student success a priority for the college. These rankings validate the efforts we've made to create a welcoming, rigorous, and supportive environment for our students. I could not be prouder of our faculty and staff and the students who make Beaufort such a special place to learn and grow."

This recognition underscores Beaufort CCC's ongoing efforts to support academic achievement and student retention through initiatives such as a Student Success Committee, personalized advising, targeted academic support, and monitoring by a Success Coach in the Advising Center. Tailored programs are designed to give students practical skills that enhance their workplace readiness and set them on a clear path to success.

Beaufort CCC's exceptional ranking highlights its role as a leader in higher education, not only within its size category but across the entire state. This achievement reflects the college's mission to empower students and help them advance quickly in their careers while contributing to the region's economic growth.

Trump is getting Marxist and racist DEI out of the federal government. UNC has dumped it, as have many other state university systems. Many major companies are also dumping it. When will Beaufort County Community College do so?

Washingtonian: There are many wonderful teaching styles that public education has been far too slow to adopt and implement, and I know exactly why as my avocations have allowed me that special insight, as an active observer, as well as a policy initiator; far too often unheard. These societal and governmental distractions from even attempting excellence in education is clear to me now, which are: Far too great a measure of debilitating Leftist politics within the ranks of educators and administrative bureaucrats; Far too little imagination into how to better administrate public education along a wide platform of possibilities; Ineffective, inefficient and intellectually deficient school boards, and county commissioners (commissioners as the taxing body, who should perform oversight as to how the public's money is spent); Too few parents, who are themselves products of the highly political education industry, not taking effective roles in lending a helping heart and hand in the education of their children, and lastly, Higher Education at its lowest point in the history of the United States in its in ineffectiveness in educating those that teach and run public education.

The only correct entity that will save public education, at this point, is the evolving necessity of School Choice. Thank God there are those that see clearly enough to give our Representative Republic a good fighting chance to lift our society from the decades of these dumb-down doldrums.

Its been many years since my child spent 2 yrs at BCCC preparing for a 4 yr college. But the difference in quality of education was dramatic compared to what my child was getting at the local grade schools.

I remember the BCCC English teacher grading the papers, making some suggestions and then allowing the student to rewrite it for a better grade. All of this made more work for the teacher, but was appreciated very much by me as a parent. I thank BCCC for the fact that today he has a Ph.D

By the way, back then a 16yr old could enroll in BCCC without a highschool diploma. Is it the same now? Try it, you'll like it.
