Martha McIver Larkin | Eastern NC Now

    Martha McIver Larkin passed away on February 26,2025 at her home in Washington NC. Martha was born on August 3, 1957, to the late James Vann Larkin Sr. and Mary Anne Campbell Larkin. She graduated from Hermitage High School in Richmond VA and received her bachelor's degree and her MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Martha enjoyed a long career in the computer industry, with her work as a systems engineer taking her to destinations across the country and abroad.

    Music was an integral part of Martha's life. From marching as a mascot with the old Washington High School marching band and founding her high school color guard, to singing in the church choir, Martha found music a source of great pleasure and comfort.

    Martha was a devoted member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Washington, where she sang in the Chancel Choir and played in the Handbell Choir. Martha is survived by her sister Anne Larkin Poates (Scott) of Richmond VA, her brother James Vann Larkin, Jr. of Washington, her niece Heather Larkin of Richmond VA, her long-time special friend Sheila Taylor, and a host of cousins who were an important part of her life.

    Her funeral will be held on Sunday, March 2, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or to the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Shelter.
