William Thomas Walker | Eastern NC Now

    William Thomas Walker, age 88 a resident of Aurora, died Friday April 18, 2025, at Grantsbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Grantsboro, NC.

    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mary's Chapel Christian Church with John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in White Hill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Derek Walker, Brandon Walker, Jimmy Taylor, Guy Martin, Robert Quinn and Darrell Cayton will serve as pallbearers.

    Thomas was born on November 5, 1936, in Beaufort County, to the late Rufus Harold Walker and Edna Lamb Walker. He was a 1955 graduate of Aurora High School, and a US Air Force Veteran. On August 12, 1962, he married Joan Bennett, who preceded him in death in 2015. Thomas worked in distribution at Texas Gulf, retiring in 1998. Thomas was a member of Mary's Chapel Christian Church. He was the founding member of the Small community coffee club, which met everyday except Sunday's, for the last 27 years. He enjoyed working in the yard and being outside and loved piddling around.     Survivors include his children, Tom Walker of Chesapeake and Cathy D. Walker of New Bern, brother, Webster R. Walker (Bonnie) of Aurora, grandchildren, Anna Millard, Tyler Votra, Will Walker, Josh Walker and Allison Walker, great grandchildren, Royce Whealton, Kenley Whealton, and Branson Taylor.
