David Richards Connor | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. David Richards Connor, age 87, a resident of Washington, NC died peacefully on Tuesday evening, April 22, 2025, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation.

    A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Washington, NC at a later date.

    Mr. Connor was born in Gloucester County, NJ on October 10, 1937, to the late Ethelbert Norris Connor, Jr. and Marion Purnell Connor. He graduated from Lansdowne High School in Lansdowne, PA and the University of Pennsylvania with a BFA. He earned a master's degree in Math from Furman University in South Carolina and taught Math at Christ Church School in Greenville, SC and later as an adjunct at Beaufort County Community College. Mr. Connor was an avid reader, a member of the Beaufort County Choral Society and the First Presbyterian Church Choir here in Washington, where he has lived since 2007. He was a member of the River Road Ruritans for a number of years.

    Survivors include his two children, a son, David Fernandez Connor of Scottsdale, Arizona, a daughter, Monica Aja Korn of Miami, Florida, five grandchildren, Laura Reitsma, Richard Korn, Gregory Graber, Rian Graber, Evan Connor, two great grandchildren, Maksim Graber, Theo Reitsma, three brothers, Andrew B. Connor, Douglas P. Connor, Dennis T. Connor, a sister, Judith Connor Smith.

    He is preceded in death by two brothers, Alan N. Connor, Anthony C. Connor, and a sister, Patricia C. Antonevitch.
