Jasmine Crockett Says She’s ‘The One That’s Supposed To Make The F***in Decision’ On Iran Attacks | Eastern NC Now

    Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed that she was the one who was "supposed to make the f***in decision" regarding whether or not the United States should have launched attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

    Crockett, who has made a show of complaining that she was not given any kind of briefing on President Donald Trump's decision to execute a series of strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, could be seen in a widely-shared video clip saying that she - and other members of Congress - should have been who ultimately decided whether or not the United States should have gone ahead with the move.

    Crockett suggested that President Trump needed "to understand enough about the Constitution to the extent that I'm the one that's supposed to make the f***in decision, or at least get a vote," prompting laughter and applause from around the room.

    The Texas Congresswoman also argued during a Tuesday hearing that not bombing Iran would save the American people money, complaining once again about the fact that she had not been privy to any "consultation" regarding the attack.

    "Let me tell you, just dropping those few bombs in one day, that was the beginning of what is going to be a very long bill for us as they talk about being efficient, there was nothing efficient about doing it - maybe if there was some consultation, maybe with those that, say, have constitutional authority, since we care about the Constitution, then maybe we could have saved the American people not only money, but the lives that are now at risk as we have to put out warnings for American citizens in this country and abroad," Crockett said.

    "Maybe we need to start leading with the people at the middle of what it is that is guiding us instead of following one person," she continued. "The reason that people like me say things like, 'y'all are in a cult,' is because somehow people are abdicating their duties and abdicating the very people that put them into office."


    The Texas Democrat received another blow to her career on Tuesday when she withdrew her bid to serve as ranking member of the powerful House Oversight Committee - after receiving the fewest number of votes from within her own party. The position ultimately went to Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA).
