Billy Franklin Gordon, Sr., 86, of Chocowinity, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.

    Billy Franklin Gordon, Sr., 86, of Chocowinity, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.

    Mr. Gordon was born at home in Selma, NC, son of the late Howell Gordon and Irene Brown Gordon on October 1, 1938.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Janey Narron Gordon; son, Tony Gordon; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Estelle Gordon; former brother-in-law Billy Narron, and brother-in-law, Joe Aycock.

    Mr. Gordon is also survived by his sisters Laverne Mozingo (Frankie) of Smithfield, NC, and Carolyn Aycock of Selma, NC. His children from his first family are Danny Gordon, Frankie Gordon, Mary Ellen Gordon Barnett (Jeff); children from his marriage to Sandra Buck Dumpor are Landon Gordon and Billy Gordon, Jr. Mr. Gordon has eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Mr. Gordon was a U. S. Navy Salvage Diver, retiring in 1975 as a Chief Warrant Officer Two after 20 years of honorable service. He received an Associate's Degree from Pitt County Community College in 1980. Mr. Gordon was a dedicated father, 55-year Freemason (Normal Heights Lodge No. 632, San Diego, CA and Grimesland Lodge No. 475, Grimesland, NC), and a 49-year Shriner (Sudan Temple, New Bern, NC). He loved the sun, enjoyed farming, was a skilled welder both professionally and personally, dabbled in winemaking, and took pride in his extensive pottery collection.

    Mr. Gordon was also a member of Warren Chapel United Methodist Church in Blounts Creek.

    A visitation with Masonic Funeral Rites will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 John Small Avenue, Washington, NC 27889.
