Good afternoon, Our window is now closing for those that wish to evacuate areas such as Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands (areas under mandatory evacuation orders). Hurricane Erin has strengthened some, and fluctuations in strength are possible the next 24 hours. Our IMPACTS will not change! We still expect high impacts, especially along the Outer Banks and our immediate coastline. Conditions will worsen by this evening with increasing large waves, coastal flooding and storm surge, along with tropical storm force winds. Coastal flooding/storm surge will be significant at multiple high tide cycles starting this evening, and lasting into at least Friday for some of our coast. Our period of strongest winds will be tonight and Thursday.
