Joyce Hardee Moret | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Joyce Hardee Moret, 79, of Washington, NC died peacefully at home on Tuesday August 26, 2025, after battling Alzheimer's/dementia.

    A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Mrs. Moret was born in Pitt County on February 24, 1946, daughter of the late Lee Hardee and the late Marie Hardee. Her first marriage was to Harold Powell, and after his death she married Dave Moret who also preceded her in death. She was an avid gardener, pet lover, and worked her entire life at Empire Brushes and Rubbermaid until her retirement. She attended Alligood Church of God.

    Mrs. Moret is survived by a step-daughter: Kristal Andrews (Dean); a step-son: Ricky Powell (Lisa); a sister-in-law: Kathleen Hardee of Belvoir; step son-in-law: Randol Williams; step grandchildren: Heather Osborn, Stacey Williams, Joshua Powell, Laura Powell, Caitlyn Rocci (Charlie), and Kevin Andrews; step great grandchildren: Mary Katherine Nichols (Caleb), Timmy Osborn, Kayla Davis, Anna Lee Powell, and Zane Brennan; step great-great grandchild Adeline Nichols; uncle: Donnie Harris; aunt: Gladys Harris Harrell, and several nephews. She was preceded in death, along with her parents and two husbands by a brother: Marvin Hardee; and a stepdaughter: Sharon Williams.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice of Washington, and her caregivers: Stacey Williams and Randol Williams.
