Suzanne Edith Maurizzio | Eastern NC Now

    Suzanne Edith Maurizzio born October 25th, 1950 in Middletown, New York to the late Marjorie Dobert and Paul Bender, peacefully passed away August 27th, 2025 in Washington, North Carolina. She follows her husband of 54 years Frank Maurizzio, as well as a sister Ronda Ulrich and a brother Richard "Ricky" Bender in death. Suzanne is survived by four children, Amy (Ed) Hinchman, John (Tawanna) Maurizzio, Daniel (Lisa) Maurizzio, Jason (Renae) Maurizzio, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

    Affectionately known as Suzie, she had a passion for music and you could always find her singing and dancing around the house. She played the piano in her youth and truly enjoyed the simpler things in life. Known for her famous Christmas lasagna, Suzie dedicated her remaining years to family and friends.

    When God created Nanas, he had some things in mind. She had to be warm and strong. Funny, smart, and kind. Brave and understanding too. All of these things combined. Of all the Nanas on God's great earth, I feel so blessed that you were mine. -Unknown
