    Peggy Sue Winstead, age 73 a resident of Washington, died Friday, September 5, 2025, at her home.

    No services are planned at this time.

    Peggy was born on September 11, 1951, in Beaufort County to the late Clyde Milton Winstead and Elsie Mae Alligood Winstead. She was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School and attended Beaufort Tech, general education. In 1980 she married David Smith who preceded her in death. Peggy retired as an OR Technician. She enjoyed being a seamstress, working in the yard, gardening, and shagging. She was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ. Peggy was also preceded in death by her brother Don Geary Winstead.

    Survivors include her children, Holly Sue Ragland (William) of Washington, Lorie Anne O'Neal of Nags Head and Milton Clay O'Neal of Wilmington, brother, Kenneth Winstead (Sally) of Washington State, sister, Genevieve Winstead Wallace of Plymouth, grandchildren, Turner Ragland, Landon Ragland, Asher Ragland, Grayson O'Neal, Saylor Willis, Reese O'Neal and Archie Ford O'Neal.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
