Beaufort County Community College----Ranked?

BY: HOOD RICHARDSON

We are glad the Beaufort County Community College has been ranked Number One in the nation by SmartAsset Advisors, LLC. This ranking is limited to three factors: tuition and fees, student to faculty ratio and retention rate. These are important factors in education, but do not tell the whole story of education.

One reason tuition and fees are low is because of the extra ordinary money given to the College by the Beaufort County taxpayers.  Commissioners are appropriating $250,000 per year for tuition assistance.  This is extraordinary, few counties do this. This is in addition to the four million dollars given to the college, most of which is required by the legislature to participate in State assistance to the College.

SmartAsset Advisors, LLC connects virtually anyone who has money to spend for financial services with those who provide services. Their spectrum is broad including insurance, financial consulting, housing, mortgages, etc.

There are other activities involving the Community College that are not that wholesome to us normal citizens. The two that are I am most aware of are the LGBTQ+ Club and the attitude of the college about illegal aliens. With these two “woke” issues coming from College management there are probably a lot of other liberal issues floating around campus.

The College advertises the LGBTQ+ Club on the college communications network and provides meeting space including, as I understand, an advisor. The College has consulted legal counsel and has, what appears to be, a resistance attitude about cooperation with immigration officials who come on campus.

Dr. Loope, the President of the College, requires that all immigration officials be directed to him. He, using privately donated money, has consulted legal counsel about protecting illegals. Dr. Loope says “At present, the College will not provide any sensitive student information covered by FERPA to anyone who identifies themselves as an ICE agent or who represents ICE. We may provide directory information, unless the student has formally prohibited sharing that information too.” He goes on to say: “The College will, of course, honor any court order signed by a judge, However, at present we will not honor an administrative order that comes from ICE.” A much better and patriotic statement would be to say: “We will cooperate with all law enforcement agencies.” Dr. Loope’s statements tear at the heart of our democracy.

It is apparent that the education community, from kindergarten to the college PhD, has become very liberal, attempting to abandon the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the United States. Education facilities are not the proper places for teaching theories, ideas or “isms” that conflict with the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the principles of our founders. However, this ilk is present in all our public and semi-public learning institutions.

There are boards and commissions that are elected and appointed, the purpose of which is to protect our democracy. Unfortunately, almost all of these have either failed or are failing to provide effective supervision of these various education institutions and more particularly the staff (the hired help) that run them. Almost all education boards have been particularly ineffective in requiring the leaders of these institutions to divorce themselves from the revolutionary “woke” hired help. For some reason most of these boards and commissions believe it is their responsibility to “protect” the hired help as opposed to “direct” the hired help. This is the main reason education, at all levels, is failing.

Talk to these board members when you see them, let them know what you think. All have been appointed by either the governor, the legislature or the board of county commissioners. Ask them if they support the hired help’s position of defying the Constitution and ICE. They are: Kathleen Simpson, Darren Armstrong, Tina Eakes, Archie Griffin, Jonathon Oliver, Dr. Dennis Campbell, II, John Rodman, Wali Saleem, John Rebholz, Russell Smith, Kurt Ryan, Dr. Laura Staton, Julius Walker, Jr., Natalie Wayne, Linda West, Dr. Debra Windley and Mackenzie Conaway.

The Hood and I (Stan Deatherage) were the only commissioners, still on this board, that voted against spending county tax dollars on county residents, who were Illegals, for the "Beaufort Promise" program for free tuition.

Tandy Dunn had not been elected yet to the board, but I feel certain that Tandy would have joined both of us, most senior commissioners, in not further wasting yet more of the taxpayer dollars on needless programs for non citizens.

If commissioners wish to stop raising taxes, and begin the lowering of them, they must immediately stop wasting the taxpayers' treasury. It is truly just a simple math equation by ending the wasting, and start the cutting of the spending.

Hmmmm.....sounds like we got some Commissioners who need to be rounded up with the SJW board members out there at Beaufort Tech when ICE comes through. Whether they know it or not, what I stated above CAN happen.

Publicly stating that you will not comply with administrative orders from ICE is painting a big red "come here" sign for the FEDS.

Dudes like Archie Griffin are screwing themselves nine ways from Sunday by making these nonsensical stances against the Trump administration; their political careers will implode before take off..... especially if he tries to run as a Republican in the future. If he ever runs as a Democrat, like Corey Rogerson did, he's definitely screwed.

I think the school is grandstanding to distract the fact that enrollment ain't what they're claiming due the uber-liberalization of the school by the Farrahkrats.

I have, and I will always have a massive governing issue with our public tax dollars supporting Illegals, especially now that it was always the plan of Non Patriot Leftists, and RINOs to abruptly change the self-governed apparatus of this Representative Republic into something that these Non Patriots could plunder for their own personal desires over the well being, and distinct needs of our Good People.

BCCC is still pushing the extreme left DEI (Division, Exclusion, Indoctrination) which our president and our legislature are trying to eradicate because it is evil and un-American. Dr. Fruit Loupe needs to go.

BCCC is operating as a sanctuary campus for illegal aliens. What are the commissioners doing about that? What is the BCCC board doing about that? Beaufort County citizens should NOT tolerate this defiance of federal immigration law by a far left community college president.

Is any of Beaufort County's "free tuition" money going to illegal aliens????? Are they being charged out-of-state tuition as they should be?
