Carlton Ernest “Carlie” Ambrose | Eastern NC Now

    Carlton Ernest "Carlie" Ambrose, age 60, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday September 6, 2025 at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

    A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Friday September 12, 2025 at Old Ford Church of Christ and will be officiated by Reggie Braziel. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers include Zachery Ambrose, Dodge Buck, Scott Williamson, Bryson Banks, Cadin Clark, and Grover Woolard. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Woolard, Tommy Hale, Harvey Williamson, and Phillip Leggett.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday September 11, 2025 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    Carlie was born in Beaufort County on November 26, 1964 to Carlton Ambrose and Frances Leggett Ambrose. On May 14, 2016 he married Suzanne Nipper. His family was most important to him, but his interests revolved around deer and bear hunting and fishing with his many friends. He was a member of the Southern Dismal Hunting Club and a life long member of Old Ford Church of Christ.

    Survivors include his wife Suzanne N. Ambrose of the home, two children, Taylor Anne Ambrose and Louis Banks of Farmlife, Zachery M. Ambrose and wife Katelyn of Washington, three grandchildren, Bryson and Briley Banks, Adalynn Ambrose, his father, Carlton S. Ambrose and wife Betty of Bath, his mother, Frances L. McCeldry of Washington, three brothers, Hal Kinnion and wife Alice of Blounts Creek, Greg Kinnion of Washington, Bill Ambrose of Washington, and a step brother, James McCormick of Hopewell, VA

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carlton Ambrose Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
