Second California poll gives GOP the lead in Governor's race for 2026 | Eastern NC Now

after Emerson College poll two weeks ago, now it is IGS poll

Hard on the heels of the Emerson College poll of California voters showing Republican Steve Hilton leading among state voters in the governor's race, with the leading Democrat, former Congresswoman Katie Porter falling to second, another poll has also shown a GOP lead in the race.  Hilton, a naturalized US citizen, is a former advisor to former Conservative British Prime Minister David Cameron.  The Emerson College poll put Republican Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco in third place.

The latest poll of California voters by pollster IGA confirms that Porter is now in second place, losing 6 points since their last poll, when she had been in the lead.  Both Hilton and Bianco had gained since the last poll, but  IGS has Bianco in first place, and Hilton tied for third with Democrat former US DHHS Secretary Becerra.

California has a "jungle primary" where candidates of all parties compete in the same primary, and the two top votegetters move on to the general election, even if they are from the same party.
