FreedomWorks, a libertarian-conservative non-profit grassroots organization that tracks how well sitting politicians adhere to the principles of Freedom, has released their scorecard for the 113th Congress.

The score was based on 15 key votes within the following 8 subjects: Budget and Spending; Health Care Reform; Fundamental Tax Reform, Energy and the Environment; Workplace Freedom; School Choice; RedTape, Hidden Taxes, and Regulation, and Medicare, Social Security and Entitlement Reform.

NC MEMBERS IN US HOUSE

Leading the North Carolina House delegation was Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC3) who scored a 93 placing him in a four-way tie for 5th among all 435 House members. Jones represents the District that includes parts of Beaufort County. This score placed Jones tied with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY).

The four US House members who got perfect scores were libertarian rock-star Justin Amash (R-MI), Matt Salmon (R-AZ), Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Paul Broun (R-GA).

The next two NC House members were Richard Hudson (R-NC8) and Mark Meadows (R-NC11) both with scores of 67. Hudson and Meadows both lost points for votes for automatic $1 Trillion a year funding without House input, funding the government without defunding the ACA, and for funding the false "Farm Bills". Meadows lost more points for voting to raise the debt limit and Hudson lost more points for voting against the 4th Amendment privacy concerns. Rep. Meadows' letter to John Boehner asking House member to stand strong to defund the ACA was counted as one of the standards to which House members were measured.

The lowest scoring NC Republicans in the House were Renee Ellmers (R-NC2), Patrick McHenry (R-NC10), Robert Pittenger (R-NC9) & Virginia Foxx (R-NC5) tied with a score of 53. These members had slightly different votes that earned them the same score but the universal items among them that lower their scores were raising the debt ceiling, increased entitlements, and voting against civil liberties where privacy was concerned.

The highest scoring NC Democrat was Mike McIntyre (D-NC7) with a score of 42 who earned most of his points in votes concerning Obamacare including defunding, delaying the individual mandate and stopping IRS enforcement in addition to voting to restrict Executive power to legislate without Congressional laws. (The highest scoring Democrats in the House earned a 47). The lowest scoring NC House member was G.K. Butterfield (D-NC1) who earned 27 points, mostly for voting against Budget Resolutions that allowed a Continuing Resolution to pass without amendments to defund the ACA and against the falsely named Farm Bills.

NC MEMBERS IN US SENATE

Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) received a score of 59, placing him in the top 30% of the entire Senate but near the bottom 1/3 of Senate Republicans. Burr lost points supporting an Internet Sales Tax, voting against Rand Paul's balanced budget, voting to fund Obamacare, and voting to raise and suspend the debt ceiling.

The top members of the Senate were Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) with perfect scores.

Senator Kay Hagan (R-NC) received a score of 6. The only vote she scored any points on was voting against the Senate Budget Plan that raised spending. Votes she voted against freedom including voting against Mike Lee's .49% budget decrease to pay for the emergency appropriations; voted against prioritizing military, social security and debt interest payments when the debt ceiling was met,; voted to raise the debt ceiling; voted for the Internet sales tax; voted against the balanced budget; and voted against School Choice.
