Dalton Ray Bennett | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Dalton Ray Bennett, age 66, a resident of Aurora, NC died Thursday January 8, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday January 11, 2026, at his home.

    Dalton was born in Beaufort County on August 15, 1959, son of the late Landford Eugene Bennett and the late Stella Mae Edwards Bennett. He was a 1977 graduate of Aurora High School. On March 19, 2005, he married the former Laura Anne Werner who survives. He worked at the former Texas Gulf in Aurora, was a mechanic at Potter Oil company in Aurora, and he also owned and operated ASC Hunting & Fishing Supply in Aurora. He loved racing cars, and riding motorcycles "especially Harley's". Being an outdoorsman, he loved boating, fishing, and crabbing. He was a homebody but also loved spending time with his friends. Dalton recently became a member of the Town of Aurora's Board of Commissioners. He looked forward to helping to improve many aspects of his community.

    Surviving along with his wife: Laura of the home are his children: Dainelle Bennett Stilley and her husband Eric of Aurora, Derek Ray Bennett of Bayboro, and Rebecca Anne Bennett and her significate other Devin of Raleigh; a sister: Carol Kidney of Aurora; a brother: Clifton Allen Bennett and his wife Janice of Jacksonville; two grandchildren: William Gage Daniels, and Landon Christipher Yeates; and a nephew, who was like a brother to Dalton: Gene Hopkins and his wife Kay of Edward.

    Dalton was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a brother-in-law: Gary Kidney.
