Martha Jane Leitschuh | Eastern NC Now

    Martha Jane Leitschuh, age 80, a resident of Washington, died, January 26, 2026, at her home.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Asbury Methodist Church with Pastor David Green officiating. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jason Bridges, Jarred Bridges, Andrew Coty, William "Bill" Coty, Dean Leitschuh and Tripp Leggett will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the funeral service at the church.

    Martha was born on January 12, 1946, in Pamlico County to the late John Edward Harper and Gladys Brinson Harper. She was a graduate of Pamlico County High School. Martha worked in administration at Beaufort County Hospital. She loved to travel and shop. Martha was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Dean Leitschuh.

    Survivors include her children, Kari Leitschuh (Steven Phillips) of Wake Forest and Dean Leitschuh (Cassie Leitschuh) of Vanceboro, brother, John Edward Harper, Jr. of Raleigh, sister, Sandra Cotton of Minnesott Beach, grandchildren, Jason Bridges, William Coty, Jarred Bridges, Andrew Coty and Tori Leitschuh, great grandchildren, Brandon Bridges, McKenzie Bridges and Henry Bridges.
