major US medical group advises against gender transition surgeries or drugs on kids | Eastern NC Now

In the wake of a New York jury awarding a $2 million verdict against gender transition doctors, a major American medical group has revised its policies and is now advising its members not to do gender transition procedures on patients under 19 years old.  the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the first major US medical group to break ranks and oppose transing kids, but the powerful American Medical Association is expected to follow soon.

The ASPS reasoned that the benefits of those procedures were questionable and the potential harm that could not be reversed was substantial.

In the UK, the National Health Service last year revised its policies on transing kids.  The NHS now says that gender confused children are likely to grow out of their gender confusion, and that even new pronouns or names should not be recommended, much less surgery or drugs.
