Jasper Ayers Sr. | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Jasper Ayers, Sr., age 90, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Friday February 5, 2026, at East Carolina Health Medical Center in Greenville.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday February 8, 2026, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory. Per his wishes, no service will be held.

    Mr. Ayers was born in Nash County on September 11, 1935, son of the late Howard Ayers and the late Louise Reese Ayers. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He married the former Ethel Mae Gardner who preceded him in death. He spent his working career as an assembly line operator at the former Singer Furniture Company in Chocowinity and he retired when Singer closed that operation. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, and working on lawn mowers and tractors.

    Survivors include his children: Jasper Ayers, Jr. and his wife Teressa, Debbie Spain, Joseph Ayers and his wife Tina, and Deloris Ayers all of Chocowinity; grandchildren: Curt, Lee, Kristen, Jasmine, Jessica, Josh, Walter, Hailey, Tyler, Jake, Graham, Noah, and Delaney and twenty-one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death, along with his parents and wife by a son: Johnny Ayers.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, McConnell-Hope Lodge, 930-A Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
