Phyllis Ann Langley Burroughs | Eastern NC Now

    Phyllis Ann Langley Burroughs, age 83, a resident of Washington died Saturday April 25, 2026.

    A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday April 29, 2026 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be officiated by Greg Barmer.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 6:00PM Tuesday April 28, 2026 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    Mrs. Burroughs was born in Beaufort County on February 5, 1943 to the late Hobson Basnight Langley and Helen Cozzens Langley. She was a Washington High School graduate of 1961. On March 21, 1961 she married Bobby Lee Burroughs who preceded her in death on February 21, 2002. Mrs. Burroughs worked as a secretary in the Agriculture extension office. She enjoyed cross-stitching, crafting, singing, and watching hummingbirds. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her two daughters, Amy Burroughs of Concord, NC, Debra Carpenter of Rayford, NC, four grandchildren, Taylor Sharp, Dalton Sharp, Nathan Carpernter, Bobby Carpenter, a niece, Carol West (Ron), and a nephew Wayne Boyd (Sherry) all of Washington.

    In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by two brothers, Skybo Langley, Tommy Langley, and a sister, Iris Boyd.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 33, Washington, NC 27889.
