    Mr. Danny Earl Cross, age 76, a resident of Grimesland, died Wednesday April 29, 2026, at his home.

    A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday May 3, 2026, at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville officiated by Pastor Kevin Whaley.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday May 2, 2026, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

    Mr. Cross was born in Pitt County on February 27, 1950, son of the late Sam Cross, Jr. and the late Mable Lee Horne. On December 10, 1974, he married the former Vickie Gail Hardee who survives. He worked as a self-employed brick mason and most of his work was at Cherry Point. Mr. Cross loved being on the water while boating and fishing and he also dearly loved watching NASCAR. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

    Surviving along with his wife Vickie of the home are his children: Monica

    Cross Williams and her husband T.J. of Grimesland; a son: Danny Earl Hardee of

    Grimesland; sisters: Elaine Smith and her husband Linwood of West Virginia, Brenda Huggins of Grifton, Tammy Cross of Grifton, and Teresa Evans and her husband James of Grifton; and a grandson D.J. Hardee. Mr. Cross was preceded in death, along with his parents, by a daughter: Christal Cross.
