    Carl Thomas Cuthrell, age 40, a resident of Chocowinity, NC went to his heavenly reward on Saturday May 2, 2026, while at the ECU Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 6, 2026, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and will be officiated by Eric Diaddorio. A burial will follow in Yeatesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Van Cuthrell, Ryan Cuthrell, Shelton Cuthrell, Chad Richards, Christian Batchelor, and Brock Cuthrell.

    The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 6, 2026, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

    Carl was born in Beaufort County on January 26, 1986, son of Van Wayne Cuthrell who survives and Kimberly Fern Moir Nelson who also survives. He was a graduate of West Johnston High School in Benson. He assisted his father in commercial fishing and landscaping. He also loved hunting, being outdoors, crafts, making things to give away and superheroes especially Marvel and DC. He attended Gateway Church in Winterville. To sum up his life, one could say he was a special child of God.

    Surviving, along with his father, Van Cuthrell and his wife, Viea, of Simpson, and his mother, Kimberly Nelson of Greenville, are his brother, Ryan Cuthrell of Blounts Creek; his sisters, Meagan Richards and her husband, Chad, of Blounts Creek, and Natalie Batchelor and her husband, Christian, of Winterville; his nieces, Joslyn Richards and Peyton Cuthrell; many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; a loyal friend and neighbor, Ben Hollowell; and Carl's K9 companion, Maxie.

    Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks for any memorial contributions be made to the Maynard Children's Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center, 2100 Stantonsburg Road, Greenville, NC 27834.
