    Karen Sue Roberson Johnson, age 61, a resident of Roberson Rd., Washington, NC passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her home.

    There will be a celebration of her life Friday, November 22 at 10:30 AM in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Tad Tankard. Special music will be provided by Pastor Treva Tankard. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Allen D. Walker, Swindell Braddy, Paul Hawkinson, John Roberson, Adrian Waters and Phillip Kinney will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC.

    Karen was born March 6, 1952 in Beaufort County daughter of the late Virgil Roberson and Hallie Mae Woolard Roberson who survives. She was a 1970 graduate of Bath High School and earned her nursing degree from Beaufort County Community College in 1973. On July 13, 1986 she married Bruce Johnson who survives. Karen was employed as a registered nurse with Beaufort County Hospital for many years. She loved sports.

    In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her sons Brett Walker of Cary, NC and Justin Johnson of Raleigh; her daughter, Kinsey Johnson of Newport Beach, CA; her brother, Kevin Roberson of Washington; and her grandchildren, Virgil Walker and Ashton Henry Johnson.

    In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Dean Walker.
