    Roger Wayne Wilcher, 82, a resident of Washington, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 17, 2026 at his home.

    A memorial service will be held at 3:30PM Sunday June 28, 2026 at First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Greg Barmer, Matt Carr and Taylor Head.

    The family will receive friends from 2:30PM until on Sunday June 28, 2026 at First Baptist Church.

    Roger was born on March 9, 1944 in Lynchburg, VA. He was the son of the late David Cabell Wilcher and Lois Jennings Wilcher. He graduated from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg. Roger Earned his undergraduate degree from Lynchburg College, and later received his theological education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

    Roger faithfully served the Lord throughout his life in ministry. He served as Minister of Education and Youth at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, KY; College Park Baptist Church in Orlando, FL, Highland Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, and Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia, VA. He later served as pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA, and New Hope Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA.

    Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Caren Clary Wilcher, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, his daughter, Joy Wilcher Stallings and husband Chase of Washington, his brother, David Wilcher of Bedford, VA, his grandchildren, Lauren Patrick Hodges and husband Brian, Catherine Hope Stallings, Hundley Chase Stallings, and his great-grandchildren, Patrick Hodges and Allie Gray Hodges.

    Roger will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his dedication to the churches he served, his love for his family, and his commitment to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Ministry or Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church, or to the Chocowinity Fire Department.

    The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this time.
