    Mrs. Sharon Ann Elks Housley, age 69, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Monday June 22, 2026, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday June 28, 2026, in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Pastor Ronnie Gurganus. A burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Jacob Pittman, Charles Winstead, Tavner Dixon, Greg Swain, Steve Chauncey, Jeremy Wetherington and Kent Hill will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends on Saturday June 27, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, and other times at the home.

    Mrs. Sharon was born in Beaufort County on November 1, 1956, daughter of the late Tan Dalton Elks and the late Shirley Ann Dixon Elks. She was a 1975 graduate of Chocowinity High School and continued her education at Beaufort County Community College where she received her associate's degree in accounting. On March 31, 2001, she married Douglas Manuel Housley who survives. She worked at First South Bank in their Washington downtown office and later worked as an assistant to the regional manager at Fresenius Dialysis in Greenville. Mrs. Sharon enjoyed gardening, growing plants and shopping.

    Surviving along with her husband, Doug, of the home are her children: Glenn Wayne Harris, Jr. and his wife Callie of Greenville, and Tania Leah Harris of Chocowinity; a sister: Donna Elks Pittman and her husband Allen of Washington; and a granddaughter: Katie Lee Harris of Chocowinity. She was predeceased along with her parents by a daughter Kati Elizabeth Harris; brothers: James Phillip Elks, and Gerald Dalton Elks.

    Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to Beaufort County Developmental Center, Attn: Elena Cameron, P.O.
