ENCNow
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:23

Owen "Wade" Allen, 88, of Pungo, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on June 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 16, 1938, in Pantego, North Carolina, Wade was the son of the late Owen H. Allen and Maebell A. Allen. He grew up alongside his brothers, James Allen (Linda) and Thomas "Walt" Allen (Ellen), and his sister, Etha Mae Pate (Anthony). On June 26, 1966, Wade married the love of his life, Ollie Jay Elks. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, sharing 60 years of marriage. Their home was a place where Christ was honored, family was cherished, and all were welcome.

Wade is survived by his devoted wife, Ollie Jay Allen; his daughters, Bonnie Sadler (Barry) of Pungo, Nancy Jackson (Bruce) of Washington, and Becky Powell (Jimmy) of Greenville; his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Sadler, Kyle Sadler, Casey Sadler (Trey), Mollie Walker (Kynon), Jonathan Powell (Brittany), Stephen Powell (Daniela), and Christopher Powell (Elif); and his beloved great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke, Jessa, Caleb, Amalia, Camila, Joaquin, and Sutton Wade, expected in August 2026.

From an early age, Wade developed a deep love for farming, hunting, fishing, and the land. Agriculture was more than a livelihood to him-it was a calling. As a progressive hog farmer, he and his family became the first in North Carolina to raise pigs on concrete, demonstrating both innovation and a commitment to improving farming practices. Throughout his life took great pride in everything he built.

Wade was also known for the simple joys he created with his family. He loved making his well-known fudge alongside his children and grandchildren-a tradition that became a favorite memory for many. He was always happy to share both the fudge and the time spent making it. He also had a lifelong love of baseball and was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, always enjoying a good game.

A devoted member of Union Grove Church of Christ, Wade served faithfully in many roles. He was often the first to arrive for Wednesday morning Bible study, making coffee-continuing this quiet act of service until he was no longer able. He also taught Sunday school, assisted with the youth, and supported his church in any way he could. His faith was not confined to Sundays-it shaped how he lived each day. Through quiet acts of kindness, steady encouragement, and unwavering integrity, he left a lasting impact on his family, church, and community. He did not seek recognition, but led by example, demonstrating humility, diligence, and a servant's heart. Whether working alongside his sons-in-law or lending a hand to a neighbor, Wade lived out his belief that true success is measured not by what one gains, but by how one serves and loves others.

Those who knew Wade knew a man of few words but deep wisdom. When he spoke, others listened. He offered steady guidance, quiet strength, and genuine care. He loved his family deeply and remained firmly rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ.

The seeds Wade planted-in his family, his church, and his community-continue to bear fruit. His life stands as a testament to faithful service, enduring love, and a steadfast walk with the Lord.

Though his family grieves his loss, they do so with hope, knowing he has received the promise of eternal life and has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

A visitation will be held at Union Grove Church of Christ, 6889 Hwy 99 North, Pantego, NC, 27860 on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.

Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven is honored to serve the Allen family.
