Nancy Carol Blakley Wainwright | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Nancy Carol Blakley Wainwright, age 90, a resident of Blounts Creek, NC died Monday July 13, 2026, at her home.

    A private graveside funeral service will be held at Warren Memorial Cemetery officiated by Pastor Ashley Trogon.

    Mrs. Nancy was born in Lee County on November 10, 1935, daughter of the late Joe Cephus Blakley and the late Ida Edwards Blakley. She was a graduate of Lee County High School. On July 2, 1955, she married Johnny Ray Wainwright, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 7, 2007. While living in Virginia, she was a stockroom manager with Roses until she and her husband returned to Beaufort County. At that point, Mrs. Nancy became a homemaker. Her first and foremost priority was her family.

    Survivors are her daughter, Teresa Kay Wainwright of Blounts Creek; and a sister, Hilda Cameron of Pinehurst. She was predeceased, along with her parents and husband by a son, Johnny "Ray" Wainwright, Jr.

    Her daughter Teresa and baby cuddles were her constant companions. Along with Teresa and cuddles, Mrs. Nancy is also survived by her grand dogs, Sweetie and Grace Marie.
