    Janice Sadler Davenport, age 81, a resident of Belhaven, NC passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, at ECU Health Beaufort in Washington, NC.

    A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00 am at West Belhaven Church of Christ. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. Private graveside following service.

    Mrs. Davenport was born in Belhaven, NC on August 31, 1944, to the late William Harry Sadler and Nellie Woolard Sadler. She attended Belhaven Schools and on June 3, 1961, she married Clifton G. Davenport, Sr who preceded her in death on December 12, 2016. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

    Janice was a stay-at-home mother for many years to her three children. Later she worked several bookkeeping jobs and retired from Pungo District Hospital's Insurance Dept. Mrs. Davenport was a member of West Belhaven Church of Christ.

    She is survived by her children: Sherry D. Hollowell (Bryan) of Pinetown, Pamela D. Midgette (Rodney) of Plymouth and Clifton G. "Jerry" Davenport, Jr. (Lori) of Belhaven; sister Pat Sadler of Washington, sister in law, Bettie Lou Sadler of Pantego; six grandchildren, Megan H. Phelps (Brandon) of Belhaven, Zachary Midgette of Plymouth, NC, Rachel H. Smith (Joseph) of Belhaven, Cameron Davenport (Nicole) of Belhaven, Allison M. Lancaster (Chris) of Kinston, and Caily A. Davenport of Greenville, six great-grandchildren, Lawson and Keaton Phelps, Holli, Lily and Colton Davenport and Brooks Smith and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

    Flowers are appreciated and the family kindly asks for any memorial donations to be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project or West Belhaven Church of Christ in Belhaven, NC.
