    Sadie Muriel Francis Fowle, age 91, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday July 26, 2026 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday August 1, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Washington and will be officiated by Dr. Judy Siker. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers include Bill Mac Alligood, Scott Campbell, Clay Carter, David Fowle, Lewis Orr, and Dr. Dave Tayloe, Jr.

    The family will informally receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:00PM at First Presbyterian Church until the funeral hour and after the burial at the cemetery.

    Mrs. Fowle was born on September 26, 1934, in Northampton County, NC to the late Marshall Francis and the late Nettie Brittle Francis. She graduated from East Carolina Teachers College and continued on to receive her Master's in education. Mrs. Fowle was a teacher/administrator for the Washington City Schools. On December 21, 1957, she married Samuel Richardson "Bud" Fowle, III. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Washington and devoted much of her time to serving her community through numerous organizations, including the Turnage Theatre and the Brown Library of Washington.

    Survivors include her sons, Samuel R. Fowle, IV and wife Christine of Southern Pines, John M. Fowle and wife Susan of Greenville, a daughter, Frannye Fowle of Washington, three grandchildren, Marshall Fowle and wife Jenny, Elizabeth Fowle, and Mary Margaret Fowle Alligood and husband Thomas Alligood, two great grandchildren, Jack Fowle and Whit Alligood, and two sisters, Kay Dunlap, and Una Thompson.

    She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel R. "Bud" Fowle, III, three sisters, Violet Timberlake, Dorothy Roberson, Kathleen Johnson, and a brother, Joe Francis.
