Gracie "Tuggy" Allen Carawan O'Neal | Eastern NC Now

    Born to the late Archie Carawan and Grace Moore Carawan on July 16th, 1938. At the age of 88, Gracie went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13th, 2026, at HCA Oak Hill Hospital while visiting her sister, Christy in Homosassa, Florida.

    Gracie was married to the late William Graham O'Neal Jr "Willie" after returning home from Roanoke Bible College and Willie returning home from the Korean war.

    They lived many years along with their son Anthony Wes O'Neal "Wes" in Newport News, Va. After Willie retired from the shipyard they moved to Schrams Beach, Belhaven, NC.

    After Willie passed away, Gracie moved to Daw Road in Pantego, NC. She loved being close to family, friends and attended church at Wilkinson Church of Christ. Gracie loved puzzling with her son Wes and having friends Wanda Ruark and Martha Neal over for movie nights. She loved traveling and attending political events with her sister Diane O Ahearn. She also loved going to ball games with her son Wes, drinking Dr. Pepper and eating at Huckle Burgers.

    She was preceded in death by her brother Elvis Carawan. She is survived by her son Wes O'Neal of the home, her sisters Sharon & John Cummings & family in Tennessee, and Christy & Stephen Daigle & family in Florida. Gracie was also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

    Above all Gracie loved the Lord!

    A Celebration of Life will be held on October 3rd at 1:30PM followed by a reception with the family with light refreshments. This will be held at Wilkinson Church of Christ, 141 Wilkinson Station Rd. Pantego, NC 27860. An interment service will be conducted at Beulah Primitive Baptist Church, 1103 Beulah Rd. (SR 1141) Beulah, NC 27971 (weather permitting).
