On May 6, 2014, voters will go to the polls to select the Republican nominee for the general election in November. As in all political races, it is important the voter makes an informed decision. To that end, I would like to present some information to help clarify a few key issues.

Listening to the dueling ads on the airwaves, voters may wonder why some ads cite a rating claiming Walter Jones is a liberal Republican and others cite ratings that he is one of the most conservative. The difference comes from who is doing the rating.

I spoke at the March 10, 2014 County Commissioner's to present what I learned by talking to staff in a number of jails in eastern North Carolina. The message I delivered to the Commissioners, based on my research, is that there is in fact an excess of jail beds in counties near Beaufort County.
