I thought we beat the issue of tolling ferries in Eastern North Carolina about a year ago. At that time there were meetings, newspaper articles, threats of political doom, and a lot of dancing by politicians.

It was a great meeting with a great discovery = we get to direct our own show here. The DOT has changed it's whole approach. No longer are they wanting to cram things down our throats.

On Monday, April 23, 2012 the NC Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Transportation met in Raleigh. Rep. Tim Spears (Democrat, Washington County) proposed legislation to repeal any new or increased ferry tolls.

North Carolina Attorney General, Roy Cooper, reported to the North Carolina Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee that it was his opinion that the Ferry Tax enacted by the North General Assembly must go forward.
