Governor Pat McCrory signed four bills into law yesterday. House Bill 358 will allow schools to be awarded A-F school performance grades based on a 15-point scale, providing a consistent benchmark for student achievement for state schools. The governor also signed House Bills 91, 601 and 706.

For the first time, the state has assigned letter grades to each public school in North Carolina. The grades are designed to allow parents and taxpayers to be better informed about the performance of public schools in their areas and statewide.
