I agree.
If communities wish to take a monument down, then let their politicians make that decision and pay the consequences - good or bad - at election. Maddening mobs should be prosecuted by the fullest extent of the law. I appreciate monuments. They are a window into the soul of a nation at a particular time. It is a punctuation point for real history.

Fantastic synopsis on why comedians today just are not funny.
There are maybe one or two comedians that I would pay to see, and I would only pay a small piece of money to give them my time. Saturday Night Live was banished from my screen years ago. Why? Not funny. When comedians replace vulgar for funny, I'm finished with them, especially if they use the Lord's name in vain; then, I am really done. Possibly, you are right that we should re-visit William Shakespeare to find his true irony of comedy nuggets. Everyday, as I get a little bit older, I get Bill Shakespeare. The man never used the Lord's name in vain, truly understood the human condition in both tragedy and comedy, and knew how to score with the crowd at a time when England was a very tough stage ply his trade. The man not only was brilliant, he had some big artistic "balls".

Norm is one of the few funny comedians today, who generally stays away from political humor; however, he does often poke fun at hypocrisy, a comedic act that does expose that sensibility of most Liberals at one time or another.
If Norm made any mistake here, he should not have apologize to any of these extra offended intellectual weenies for just being himself - Norm.

Commented on To The Protesters of North Carolina's State Monuments and the Agitators Regarding the State History:"The laws should protect 'property rights' regardless of ownership."
That is the key here. Most cronies and Liberals are more interested in fitting in with the upper crust cocktail crowd than being concerned about anyone's property rights other than their own. I know that sounds cynical, but still, this statement is far more true than not.

Beautifully put B.T. Please make this into a post, modified or not, it would be a post of perfect truth.
We want to believe that what we do, or did was right, when survival was our greatest instinct; whether in war or just fighting our way through society.

Commented on To The Protesters of North Carolina's State Monuments and the Agitators Regarding the State History:I would to agree with you all these many counts except, I'm not sure if the private sector should own any more property than it already does, especially with cronyism and stupidity ruling so supremely right now.
The richest people in America lean Liberal, and their liberal, hypocritical, non capitalist policies do not affect them so much as their policies affect the rest of us. We have laws on the books to protect our public property, and Liberals must follow the laws like the rest of us.

Right you are Alex, no, very right you are.
This Democratic Republic is the people, and when The People become increasingly stupid, and put into elected office Ass Clowns like Corey Bookers and Kamala Harris, it just reminds me how fortunate we are to have the Electoral College for the election of president. The longevity of this Republic will always depend upon the intelligence of our People, and when stupidity reigns supremely, it will be close to over unless we have a second civil war. I know what side I will be on. I think it wise that we shepard our friends and families to that Right side, which will always be the right side of history.

In Washington, NC at Oakdale Cemetery, there stands a humble reminder, a monument to those that perished for what they believed was a noble and just cause.
I will rise to defend that monument should it come under attack.

John McCain: American patriot, nice guy; hey, I even voted for him once.
Ssome folks believe that because he is dead, some of the history ends. I truly appreciate Diane's honesty. John McCain was not that petty of a guy, although he could be. It is the pettiness of nominal Republicans using him as a virtuous symbol to preserve, or salvage the Swamp of bad governing.

Commented on To The Protesters of North Carolina's State Monuments and the Agitators Regarding the State History:This is a Southern matter, and you are well qualified to pontificate on all things southern, especially the War of Northern Aggression.
Georgia was terribly burned and ravaged by W.T. Sherman, and North Carolina lost more of their population to the war than any other southern state. You (we) are extra qualified to discuss thee disgusting overprivileged children destroying something that they do not have the base intelligence to understand. Taking down Silent Sam was a full blown party for the stupid, of which Chapel Hill keeps a regular supply, and as many as can be prosecuted should be.

Commented on When It Comes To Investigating Corruption, Should Republicans Simply Act Like Democrats And Protect Their Own?The DOJ may be worse than the EPA as far as systemic corruption (they are mostly lawyers), and this President must have an attorney general that will root out that corruption.
I was never a Trump fan and voted for him like I voted for John McCain rather than what was far worse. The one that I have well noticed about Mr. Trump is that, with all his bluster and past misdeeds, he is far and away the best president that we have had since Ronald Reagan, and that is most important for this Republic at this terrible stage we find ourselves in.

Thank-you B.T. for your very extra even portrayal of John McCain, a "maverick" in most every essence of the word, and yet he could often be coaxed into conforming to the values of the Middlecrats that have and will continue to lure our America into the grasp of profound mediocrity.
I voted for John McCain on that one occasion when he was the only alternative to Barack Hussein Obama, yet thanked him broadly for introducing Sarah Palin to our American landscape, who may have been more of a "Maverick" than Senator McCain. All in all, the Senator was a good man, a great patriot, and has died now with few regrets - I am sure of that. He endeavored to be an honest politician, and by that effort should not be judged to harshly by history.

Masterfully explained B.T.; loved the analogy of transitioning from radio to TV as a comment on our society, and our representative politician(s).
This would make a great series of posts regarding perception over practice right on through what is happening now with Social Media /the Democrat Media and the Trumpster. I would participate in that line of logic to set the real perspective straight if it could be done. It would be one heck of an undertaking.

B.T.: What if President Kennedy had not screwed up the Bay of Pigs, and then went in full force to keep Cuban an United States Protectorate: Would he have been so ready to get us into the war by defending South Vietnam? AS if for no other reason but to convince American Hawks that he would adhere to the Truman Doctrine to the fullest after letting an American Territory - Cuba - slip away without a real fight.
This is why we have Trump as president. Not only would he have fought in Cuba with American troops, but he would have cut a deal with Ho Chi Minh to bring him under our watchful eye with certain benefits. All Ho ever wanted was to have 'American Liberty', and that meant getting the French out of Vietnam.

Commented on Defending the First AmendmentTom: Do you ever consume any media such as CNN and MSNBC? Or, are you immune to their dishonesty as so-called journalists?
You can turn to either outlet and within 30 seconds, you will hear the words Donald Trump, and when you hear those words, there is a 95% chance that the reporting is negative. If the history of America is begun from the headlines of our current events, that reporting needs to be honest. When it is not, which is often the case for these Democrat Media outlets, the American public is being screwed up into believing what is false, hence, these pathetic and very stupid journalists that you support are proponents of the "Fake News", and in some sense are the "Enemies of the People".

A most informational dual image meme signifying exactly what I have said for some time: The President needs to find something more worthwhile to do with his time than to allow an unscrupulous special counsel overseeing a team of 17 angry Democrats to ask him any questions, where there is no crime, and after two full years, one can not be found.
In the broad symbolic hyperbole of the NY Time's Tom Friedman - a true American Idiot well celebrated by Liberals /Socialists everywhere - 'Donald Trump's possible meeting with Special Counsel Mueller would not only be the Peal Harbor, but also, the 911 of stupidity'.
