Those who care to check the Bible on Jesus' "take" ~~~ are to look at Matthew 23 as he speaks of the Scribes and Pharisees.

Commented on Stan Deatherage Speaks as a Citizen to the Beaufort County Commissioners on the Southwest County JailI totally agree that this is a Bond Issue if it is handled lawfully. Only citizens on the local cable can get a first hand look at Council Meetings unless you take the trouble to attend. There isn't room for many observers when you meet. My daughter is on local cable and I have watched too much contention and too few decisions made. For one Beaufort County Citizen, I back you and the others wanting to not waste tax money on expensive projects not needed. We have many public offices in old and renovated buildings. Even that is in keeping with the historic nature of this town! For me, it gives us a cultural history not to be destroyed in the blink of an eye to look "modern."

I applaud the good folks here at Farm Bureau of Beaufort County for their effort. If they are like my friends in Nash County, it's not for free advertising --- it's because they care we grow and prosper here!!!

Commented on Original sin reconsideredThat IS my greatest concern. I worked with a hidden male homosexual once who was the Senior Minister. The damage his hidden actions did to his wife and son, other males, the church he served was UNCONSCIONABLE in my view. Had a Staff member once who was a girl/woman-chaser. Same problem when unbridled lust enter the life of any minister! They were both "winsome personalities." The Bible doesn't speak about being "winsome." It gives a moral code we are wise to follow. I call it "The Jesus Code" as opposed to just the 10 Commandments---none of which addresses homosexuality, by the way.

Stan, my good friend and fellow citizen --- do you think your poll is just a "little bit" biased. I am a Psychology Major trained in doing research. The first rule is "make up questions which don't dictate an answer you want."
Just sayin' --- and I totally respect you as Editor / County Council Member / friend with far more in common than most I have in philosophy and outlook.

So I am now on SS only (my house was my retirement account) since my Nash County home was foreclosed in the bad economy of 1988 / for the last 8 years I have barely been able to pay my ---- high by 30% ---- Property Tax / I almost had it go to the Courthouse steps last year / everyone I talk with is upset over high property taxes -------
YET "nobody gives a crap"????? The sheep are lined up for the slaughter, it seems! I note all the nice new Sheriff car fleet / we are going to spend millions on a jail when a far better alternate is oh so much cheaper. Maybe I'm in an "honorable work" ethic for no good reason. Maybe the rise in drugs and crime is due to more money spent, but no economy to find a decent job. What happened to the Republican mantra of "tax less / spend less / shrink government?" I guess the King reigns once more / the prisoners deserve a most nice pauper's cell when we can't keep our houses / if I get arrested for starting a riot over property taxes, I can expect a nice place with TV, AC, and a queen size bed!!! I may need it because this is one unhappy Beaufort County worked over property owner!!!! Excuses don't balance a budget nor let people enjoy a fair tax. I live on less---so can every government tax-sucker. We are all getting mighty dry out here in Depression-Land---mighty dry / mighty hurt / mighty poor.
