Comments for Special Meeting Notice

Pursuant to an order of the Mayor, you are hereby notified there will be a special meeting of the Washington City Council on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 11:00am in the Council Chambers.

Van Zant - I say this: One never allows these Masters of Malfeasance to cash out of anything at this point, especially when it comes off like stealing from the public. The People own the government; not the antithesis of such.
Commented: Thursday, November 27th, 2025 @ 2:23 pm By: Stan Deatherage
I agree John Steed; but, the question remains: Who will the City find who will take that case to court?
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 9:42 pm By: Richard Marvin Butkus
WE need to get behind our new council majority and support them. They have a big task ahead cleaning up the corrupt mess in our city. This outright theft of $140,000 is a start but who knows what else lurks. I hear there is a lot of paper shredding going on in city hall.

The residents of Washington have been ill served by their representatives for a long time. From beginning to end the scoundrels are cashing out.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 8:22 pm By: Van Zant
Richard, at least in America (so far) you can still call a politician an "idiot" and get away with it. They are arresting people in Germany for that and I am sure some of the ilbs here would like to do the same.

However, you are spot on as to what we have in our current city government and city manager. This is, after all, the same city manager who proposed the budget with the huge tax increase, and then lied to the taxpayers by claiming it was not a tax increase. The dude should not get a nickle in severance after what he has done to our taxpayers.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 4:52 pm By: John Steed
Why is this IDIOTIC City Council giving this amount of money to an IDIOT City Manager, who has NO CLUE how to manage a city?

Somebody, or somebodies will have to explain this ... Deep in the Public, they will explain this.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 3:15 pm By: Richard Marvin Butkus
Concerned Taxpayer: The problem with these types of contracts in Beaufort County is that Democratic socialists, and RINOs, who swap votes to share power, those who work-hand-in-iron-glove with bureaucrats to forge these documents, which may not be legitimate politically at the least, and legally at the worst.

At what point can one governing board obligate a new governing board, and be clear of the legal fall-out? This is a most fair question since this is the People's government and the People's money to fund it.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 2:44 pm By: Stan Deatherage
Bureaucrats should NEVER NEVER NEVER have contracts like this that provide for "buyouts". That includes county managers, city managers, school superintendents, etc. The taxpayer should NEVER be at the mercy of a bureaucrat this way. Employment at will is the standard in the business world, and it should be in the bureaucratic world as well. Bureaucrats should NEVER be "entitled" to a job. If they are not performing, they need to go, just like in the private sector. For state bureaucrats, there are no "buyouts" like this so why should there be for local bureaucrats???? SUE THEM AND GET THE TAXPAYERS MONEY BACK< and that includes suing all of the irresponsible city council members who voted for this banditry.

RINO Hunter: One of the largest understandings that I have gained from 25 years as a county commissioner is that corrupt practices lead to corrupt governing, which eventually leads to abject winners and losers, where the public's treasury, taken and re-distributed, was never the politicians' charge to do so if there was NO fiduciary commitment within that process of allocation.

Additionally, once there is discovery of a pattern of corrupt practices leading to great damage to the People, then the People have many avenues of recourse, as they should; many of which are political, some are judicial.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 2:28 pm By: Stan Deatherage
This is nothing but a conspiracy to steal from the taxpayers. All of those involved need to be taken to court either criminally or civilly or both. The only "political behaviors" that align with this city manager are Tammany Hall politics and he does not want to work for honest leaders. Screw him and the horse he rode in on. Who on the current corrupt city council voted for this travesty? IN times past, they would probably have been tarred and feathered and riden out of town on a rail.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 2:06 pm By: Rino Hunter
Washingtonian: I am just now re-considering the elements of that impropriety of the procedure to punish me by denying me my civic rights ... this Conservative political activist, who acts with great consistency ... Stan Deatherage.

WE have a downright crooked city government. Thankfully most of the crooks will be gone in about two weeks, but still time for them to do damage, as they are clearly doing with this scam to provide payola to the city manager. This needs to be stopped, in court if necessary. These lowlifes have no shame.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 11:09 am By: Conservative Voter
Stan, perhaps you would consider expanding that lawsuit into a class action lawsuit. Likely many in Washington would be raising their hand to join you.
I'm thinking that Mayor Brabo's attorney would be a proven choice. Maybe not? Has that case been in front of a Judge yet? Where is it heading? Inquiring minds want to know.

One more thing Bubba: I have talked to Lawyer Rader about doing some suing myself regarding some serious premeditated malfeasance that was fraught with all grades of incompetence.

Now that I see a political trend evolving with the City of Washington to reward some, while punishing others, it looks my case could be known as what some refer to as a SLAM DUNK.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 9:29 am By: Stan Deatherage
When government takes from the People, they better be careful who they give it back to, and how they give it back; otherwise, I get real MAD.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 9:21 am By: William Bonney
This scandal has the strong odor of a criminal conspiracy. Maybe they all could be prosecuted under RICO? This same cast of characters just slammed us with a huge tax increase and now they want to give a payout to the stinking bureaucrat largely responsible?
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 9:15 am By: Concerned Taxpayer
I am in full agreement Bubba. As a Beaufort County Commissioner, I would threaten any fellow county commissioner to sue them independently for any action resembling premeditated malfeasance, such as what I am seeing now.

As an elected official, with a strong fiduciary to one's valued constituents, one just does not participate in these injustices to the People, the Good People who expect and deserve the diligence of serious representation.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 8:47 am By: Stan Deatherage
The new city government should sue these scoundrels to get the money back. Not only should the city manager be sued but also any city council member who votes for this taxpayer ripoff. I wish there were a way to criminally prosecute these despicable thugs.
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 8:41 am By: Bubba
How does one become a City Manager, and cannot endure a smidge of public criticism, probably quite constructive, from a well meaning and ambitious candidate?
Commented: Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 @ 8:28 am By: Stan Deatherage
It wasnt incompetence Stan, it was intentional.
And if anyone were to ask me, I'd say that the City of Washington's Administration had a Fascist core. I use that term because it descriptively fits their activities.

Now, when the Council asked for J.R.'s resignation, I thot he was
being pushed out, but after watching his interview on WITN, he claims he is leaving because a candidate insulted him, that politics had "turned."
However he was revealing that actually he had been exposed & the fog had cleared from our eyes and it was time to get out of Dodge...with the help of the out-going Council to fatten his bank acct.

Here it is: The Special Called Meeting to give away the City of Washington Taxpayers' money to appease the long standing malfeasance, that is the City of Washington's reputation by those of us in the know, armed with knowledge that will quite possibly be known by others very soon, as the new city council strips away the many layers of wanton incompetence.
