Tillis is bought by special interests aligned with the Biden Democrats, so that makes him a Biden Republican. I agree that is a very appropriate term for him. North Carolina and America do not need that. He needs to be defeated in 2026. He is so hated by many in the Republican base, that if he were the nominee, he would be radioactive for the entire ticket. NCGOP does not need this turncoat heading our ticket in 2026.

Sadly most but not all politicians are bought and paid for by some big group. The only real time most but not all politicians even pretend to care about we the people is election time when they need our vote.
I pray that Tillis get knocked out in the primary.

This reminds me of a story I heard decades ago at a state Republican convention. I do not remember the county, but they had just elected their first Republican member of a city council where a city manager was a power bully. At his first meeting, there was a large crowd of citizens there for a public hearing but before that was reached, on another agenda item, the new Republican council member had made comments, only to have the city manager enter into debate opposing his position. After the manager had spoken, the council member turned to him and remarked "Bureaucrats, like children, should only speak when spoken to". He got a huge standing ovation from the crowd for that remark when told everyone about how citizens really felt about the manager's excess power.

I would say from my own experience as a political appointee in state government that most career state employees I dealt with fully understood the difference between policy makers, the elected officials and their political appointees on one side, and those tasked with the nuts and bolts of carrying out policy, the career employees on the other. There were a few exceptions, but most grasped what their roles were supposed to be and the working relationship was generally very good.

John is right on this one.

Overpaid bureaucrats, instinctively searching for their own special level of mediocrity, while urged forward in their endeavor by an incredible low level of elected officials here in Beaufort County is a huge problem, and will remain such until the local people rise up, and seize control by voting real Conservatives into office.

Hello John, Thanks 4 th thoughts.
Do u hav a memory of th last time we had ppl on "governing boards who will assert th powers those boards possess to keep th bureaucracy in line."

I recall (approximately) a few decades back when we elected a man professing to be a Republican to the County Commissioners. Turned out he wasnt! The joke became "Dont be a Mickey."

Its not easy being conservative. Human nature is to want to Help the needy. The trick is to be strict about using the Govt's money to be overly helpful. What I've noticed is that the Democrats are generous with OTHER People's Money. They dont donate their own money to causes, and charities.

What kinds of things are just cause to be fired? Have we seen the contract that the city signed with its manager?

On buying th Snowden school... Didnt we taxpayers already buy it th 1st time? Why should we hav to buy it again?

On th TitleSearch: We Washington citizens are ALSO BeaufortCo Citizens so shouldnt th City show us cits th T.S.?

Washingtonian, it is all too common for local top bureaucrats to accumulate too much power they should not have when the elected boards that are supposed to be their bosses are weak or complacent. That creates a local "deep state". We have that locally at the county, city, and especially school board level. The tail is wagging the dog in too many instances. The way to solve that is to elect people to governing boards who will assert the powers those boards possess to keep the bureaucracy in line.

If you have to fire these bureaucrats, the thing to keep in mind is that while they are pulling the wool over the eyes to their governing board, they are also probably writing contracts for themselves to make it hard or expensive to fire them. The way around that is to find the circumstances where they can be fired for cause. That saves the taxpayers a whole lot of money.

Thom Tillis is also bought and paid for on illegal immigration and amnesty by the corrupt crony capitalists of the US Chamber of Commerce. If the GOPe is foolish enough to nominate that suck-up again, they will lose the Senate seat and the hurt is likely to go on down the ballot because the Republican base is absolutely sick of Tillis and will stay home. Republicans cannot afford to have Tillis at the top of their ticket in 2026 or they will pay a heavy price for that across many races.

Don Brown seems like the kind of change the GOP needs.

Fritz, First I'd fire the city manager.

Tillis' ties to the wind and solar bandits go back a long way. He was their spear carrier in the state legislature, too. We might as well have Al Gore as our senator. We need to replace Tillis in 2026 and I hope we can do it in the primary. The wind and solar scam has never been anything but pure grift and Tillis is eaten up with it.

I am absolutely one of those encouraging Nick Fritz to run for office.

The biggest problem in government is having politicians /government officials that are not intelligent.

Nick Fritz is not that guy.

Thom Tillis is totally unacceptable as GOP nominee in 2026. He is no different from Roy Cooper. Cooper and Tillis are two peas in a leftwing pod.

Washingtonian: much to the chagrin of those encouraging me to run for office, I love engaging with people on ideas! I am not running for office to get my name elected. I am runnning because I want to change things. If the citizens support my ideals and ideas then I'll be elected. If they don't then I won't. But I cannot and will not skirt around my principles in the hopes of winning votes. So here we go.. I've seen a lot of grumbles, but I have yet to see any practical advice. If you were elected tomorrow onto the city council, what would you do?

Concerned Taxpayer & John Heermann: we are taxed at four levels: the city, county, state, and federal government. Each level is orders of magnitude larger as you go up. Currently, 40% of all of the country's income finds its way into one of those four divisions. The governments use this money to redistribute it to their individual causes. In your opinions, what can and should we do at the city level to be more efficient?

This is just another example of how Phil Berger is in the hip pocket of Red China and doing their dirty work to destroy American business and open the door for Chinese competitors. By destroying our seafood industry, he helps China's dominance with its farm raised seafood, which is often of questionable quality.

"China Phil" did the same thing with the NC Green New Deal, HB951, where he is pushing types of energy heavily dominated by Red China - wind and solar - and trying to destroy American energy like coal and gas.

Phil Berger is an enemy and a traitor to America.

Lets not forget that RINO Phil Berger gave us the NC Green New Deal with a cram down rewrite in the senate in order to pander to Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper, "woke" energy monopoly Duke Energy, and the solar and wind grifters, and Little Timmy Moore helped him cram it through the House.

Part 3: Have you ever had a cop climb your back fence and look around? Have you ever had the City tell you to make changes to your property when it is NOT required by law? All of this is abt myself & others I know.
Do you know why no one on this forum ever bitches about Washington? Its because they are all afraid of retaliation and want favors down the road.
Commented: Friday, June 20th, 2025 @ 1:30 pm By: Washingtonian
Pt 2: Have you ever found that some problems existing are ignored because of who owns the property? Have you ever found that some dilapidated buildings arent even listed in the tax records? Have you ever accused the city Housing authority of corruption, then requested public records, only to be ignored? How you ever found that lawyers will lie and throw shade on a citizen, to get on behalf of their clients? Have you ever complained about a new housing development near you only to find the police show up to write traffic tickets on your neighbors going to work the next day? Have you ever found that the NC state regional offices are all slack and behave the same as the City of Washington towards citizens. Have you ever reported to a policeman in a "see something, say something reference, only to have them look at you like you are a criminal and bothering them. Have you ever been stranded and have city cop tell you to call a cab. 3 continued:

Fritz, why should I critize your opinions on conservativism? It is what it is.
Do you think City of WAshington Govt is conservative? Have you ever tried to engage the City Govt as an outsider of Govt? If you did, were you told, "I dont know,I'll have to ask the city manager." And then once they do, they wont even speak with you.
Have you read all the rules, regs, ordinances on zoning in Washington? Do you know what each one means and how it affects the people?
Have you ever tried to reach a staff or employee on a Friday? Have you ever reached out as a simple citizen and been outright ignored?
Have you ever been told the Zoning restriction and allowances mean whatever we say it means? Have you ever tried to discuss an issue with them, and been told if you dont like how we do things then hire a lawyer. Have you ever been told I dont have time for you, I'm busy running for Mayor? Have you ever reported an issue and then found that they sought retaliation via their powers. 2 continued next:

Commented on Washington Dreaming

A Reply to Fritiz's June 19. 7:05 am post:
Good Grief Fritz! In this post, You are still advocating for the Govt to give select people a Free House. The Govt creating winners and losers is socialism too.

Seeing your Progressive ideas, you might just get elected...as a DEMOCRAT!

When you and the City Manager get together with your shared dreams to make Washington Great, you may then become each other's puppet, and of course all cabals protect their puppets, because that is their power base. And thus,in this way, the corruption continues.

I just dream of the day that Govts and Bureaucracies, both local and at the NC state level Stop circling their wagons to protect themselves from inquiring citizens just seeking our natural rights. They just want WeThePpl to butt out and stop taking up their time with our ordinary needs. IMHO.

Sell out politicians like Phil Berger and all those that follow him are enemies of eastern counties need to be treated as such. The NCGOP continues to be out to lunch and should not expect our support. Think I'll write a check to Sam Page.
