Own it, Bigot Bob. Your Democrats created Jim Crow as a political power play. Republicans opposed it and voted against it. And don't hit that bottle of Old Crow too hard.

Jim Crow is a prime example of how Democrats will stoop to anything to gain and maintain political power, just as they are trying now with their Stalinesque "lawfare" against President Trump. The Democrats ginned up Jim Crow to use obscene racial hatred they created to regain and maintain power.

Democrat leaders did not suddenly wake up one morning and decide they hated black people. Instead, it was a cold, calculated, and cynical gambit that was totally a political power play. After the end of Reconstruction and those who had fought for southern independence could vote again, politics in North Carolina was a choice between Democrats who had fought for the south or supported that fight and Repubicans, who were Union sympathizers That math worked to give Democrats majorities.

Then the Populist Party came along, without any roots in the War Between the States but more on current economic issues of the working class and small farmers. That mostly ate into the Democrat vote, and when the Populists got together with the Republicans in the fusion campaign of 1896, they beat the Democrats.

The Democrats launched their white supremacy platform for the 1898 legislative election for the purpose of winning back the almost entirely white Populist voters by making the election about race. The Democrats injected white supremacy into that election for one goal, the cut down the Populist vote and bring those voters back to their party. It worked and they regained legislative control.

Then they launched the second part of their scheme to break the back of their major opponent, the Republican Party by suppressing a significant part of its voter base, the black voters. The Democrats did that in 1899 with their newly restored legislative majority by passing election laws that created a literacy test, a poll tax, and a grandfather clause.

Generating racial strife through Jim Crow laws was never really about race with the Democrats. It was about political power. It shows that Democrats will do the most obscene and evil things for political power.

We are seeing the same side of Democrats today with open borders, wokeness, and abuse of courts to attack their political enemies. It is the Democrats who are the threat to democracy and always have been.

I made the mistake of voting for Randy Walker in his primary last time due to all the stuff he put up on Facebook about being absolutely opposed to raising taxes. Randy has been a disappointment on taxes and spending his whole term. I won't make that mistake again. It is thus not terribly surprising that he has joined the far left cancel culture against southern heritage.

I knew what Murphy was in his first primary, and was not fooled at all there. He was a spendthrift in the legislature known as "Medicaid Murphy". He has gone on to be a dud of a congressman who has sold out taxpayers to the establishment. I think I saw he has a Libertarian opponent this time, and if so that is how I will vote. Murphy is not fit to even shine Walter Jones' shoes. Walter was a great congressman, I wish we still had him.

RH, racism has no party. If democrats were still clinging to the past as republicans do now, I'd be a republican. You don't see me all upset when they removed Aycock's name from buildings. We can't change the past but we can do better.

Niki Haley is bad news. She has said she wants to let big corporations set our immigration policy, which would mean opening the floodgates as wide as possible. Haley is Biden in a skirt.

Cancel culture is an abomination, especially when it is cancelling history. Cancel Culture politicians like Randy Walker and Greg Murphy are beneath contempt, especially since both masquerade as "Republicans". RINOs ia a more apt term for both. Once they went down the cancel culture path, there is no way either of them will ever get my vote.

We have two commissioners who are up for election this time who stood up against cancel culture, Hood Richardson and John Rebholz. Thank you both for standing on principle on this issue.

Greg Murphy also played a role in the travesty by which Fort Bragg is now no longer Fort Bragg. What a despicable skunk.

Political terms in Europe often have different meanings than in the US. In Europe, "progress" or "progressive" are often found in names of parties of the right as the winning party in Serbia. This began in Denmark fifty years ago, when Danish millionaire tax lawyer Mogens Glistrup founded the Progress Party, which ran on a three point platform of "abolish the income tax, abolish the welfare state, and fire the bureaucracy", coming in a strong second place in the party's first parliamentary election contest. Glistrup's run away success led Norwegian dog kennel owner Anders Lange to form a similar party at the last minute before a Norwegian parliamentary election, running on a shoestring and winning two seats. That party changed its name to the Progressive Party, and also adopted a very strong anti-immigration message and has been a player in Norwegian politics since, joining several coalition governments.

Of course, the term "progressive" was a key political term of the Soviets who used it to define a combination of card carrying communist party members and fellow travellers who followed a similar ideology but were not actual party members.

The term "liberal" is used differently in Europe than in America. What Americans would call a "liberal" in Europe would be called a "socialist" or "social democrat". The term in Europe still generally means what Americans now call a "classical liberal", which includes support of small government, low taxes, free enterprise, and individual liberty.
