If there is a "machine," I'm pretty sure it isnt the Sadler machine. Its more likely the ICMA and the NCLM political machine that has infiltrated every part of our small local govts in NC.

What happens to us?
Well-Meaning ppl get elected and suddenly realize they dont know squat abt what they have been elected to do. The machine steps forward and says to them, dont u worry your pretty little head about this, we are here to guide you. Trust your "STAFF" and support them. We have thoroughly indoctrinated your STAFF long ago, so they know exactly how to do what is best for you and your citizens.(Hide the facts.) Circle the wagons against the people.
The machine is in every Dept. Its in our City, our DEQ, our DOT, our DOL...our police.
That is why it is said that "the system is rigged."

Ireland was one of the last European countries to do away with birthright citizenship, and they abolished it is a landslide vote in a referendum. The reason was that illegal aliens in the UK would travel to Northern Ireland, where they did not need a passport, and then come across the Irish border to give birth in the Republic of Ireland, making their kids Irish citizens. The Irish got a bellyfull of that and abolished birthright citizernship.

CT - With the exception of the first one, I would disagree.
If you want to combat socialism:

We must agree to move on climate change. Its real and everyone knows it. The disagreements come when deciding how to act. Debate is welcome. Denile is unacceptable.

Medicaid - Middle class, working class and poor people have a right to medical care when needed. We have billions for war so oligarchs can clean up in the stock market but none for sick people. Unacceptable.

Fastest way for socialism to take root is to ignore reality.
Govern better.

The MOST IMPORTANT people to consult in drafting this manager contract was HIS OWN CLIENT, the city council, and our city attorney failed to do that. Why the hell NOT? This is malpractice and he needs to GO. We do NOT need him consulting globalist twits instead. This city attorney is thumbing his nose at his own clients and needs to be replaced with someone who will actually represent his clients. Now the people of Washington are stuck with this garbage contract for five years.

Voters should not forget that "Marxist Max" Perrault voted for this excrement sandwich. He pulled the wool over our eyes last election and we should never allow that to happen again. We see his true colors now.

Angry Washingtonian, sometimes when a candidate who has never been active in the party "just shows up" and runs, which they can legally do, they often turn out not to be the real deal. Frankie Waters was an example as is Randy Walker. Max Perault turned out to be the same sort of switch-hitter on the city council, unfortunately. Nick Fritz was the real deal but he had thugs from the Sadler machine show up at his business to try to damage that and then the same thugs showed up at his house to threaten his family. To protect his family, Nick resigned.

The only one who raises many of the key issues now is the conservative Unaffiliated on the council. Max has become, for all practical purposes a full blown Democrat. I would not be surprised to see him change parties formally.

Max said all the right things in his campaign, but he clearly never really believed them.

We have the same sort of candidate in our county commission race right now, and his name is John Edwards. Edwards says some of the right things, but never will make a commitment to what he is going to do on the county commission. John Edwards is another Max Perrault waiting in the wings to govern as a Democrat.

You can also put the guy the special interests bought the NC House nomination for, Darren Armstrong, in that category, too. He is a long time big time Marc Basnight Democrat who has tried to reinvent himself as a "Republican". Kidwell we could trust on issues, but not Armstroong.

My wife grew up under socialism and experienced exactly the same things these people describe. There is no need to manufacture anything. That is what happens under socialism. which is not something any thinking person should want for their country.

Armstrong is a one trick pony. If it does not involve farming he just doesn't care. I don't think the rest of us are going to be getting much representation out of this dude for the next two years. We will need to make a change then.

On the other races, this gives me a good reason to hold my nose and vote for Whatley. I always knew Buckhout and Brinson were solid choices.

This city manager contract is a disgrace that imperils the rights not only of our elected officials but also of our people here in Washington. None of those who voted for it should EVER be reelected. The comment about the League of Municipalities pushing these concepts on the city is even more concerning as this crap may spread across the state. That is all the more reason to tell the League to get stuffed and hire managers out of the private sector. That is what the state government does, not these poppycock Master of Public Administration clowns.

In addition to the above that Rev. Creech so ably lays out, Roy Cooper is an open borders whore. He vetoed bills to prohibit sanctuary counties in NC. These are counties that refuse to report illegal aliens who have committed crimes here and are thus supposed to be deported under our national immigration laws. Cooper wants to keep these criminals in North Carolina so they can commit more crimes against our citizens when we should be sending them back to where they came from.

Cooper also marched with the Marxist BLM in Raleigh, which is little different from the DSA. BLM's founders proudly proclaimed that they were "trained Marxists".
