On the mean, Marijuana does not make people smarter. I can see how some can find a benefit in limited use. The problem is, and historically this this proven, marijuana will be abused too often, and in too great a quantity, therefore it has proven to be a deleterious non benefit upon society.

Commented on Drugs, Addiction, DefeatAs a college student, I moved to Los Angeles in the late 60s. I quickly learned that nearly everyone was smoking Marijuana, but no other drugs. It was almost impossible to avoid it because people would pass it to you. If you refused, they looked at you like you must be some kind of a nutjob or worse, a narc. But it wasnt fun to me. I didnt see the reward that they did.
Furthermore, I was working really hard in college to make myself smart, but found that the weed was making me dumb. One day I said to myself: "Self, one of these two things must go." I chose my studies over weed. But I want to say to Concerned Citizen, even if historically Marijuana was a health benefit, it NO LONGER is because the producers have altered it chemically. What you buy today, no longer is, what it was. Just MHO. AND, to add to my humble opinion: I think "drugs" is what is causing all the psychosis in the population. But you do you.

Commented on Drugs, Addiction, DefeatMarijuana is a narcotic that can, in some fools, steal little pieces of their once good spirits until not much is left but a web of lost memories, and many opportunities.

Commented on Drugs, Addiction, DefeatYour a fool that has the Rx lobby in your pockets, marijuana is not a drug nor is it dangerous, the adults that you speak of didn’t make the decisions to get on heroin ecstasy acid, or any other drug for that matter because of marijuana. Beaufort County has to be the highest amount of idiots that run newspapers, blogs, and most importantly people in office.
Sincerely, a citizen that cares

The "Schumer Shutdown" is just one more Democratic Socialist political move that will aid in the Democratic Socialist destruction, the suicide of their poor, poor political party.

Right you are Buzz. It is the Democratic Socialist Governor's, Josh Stein's, sole responsibility to enforce the laws of this state.

I read where Chuck Schumer took to the Senate floor to call this poll biased and got laughed at. If there is any bias in a New York Times poll it is toward the Democrats, so maybe it should have been 70 or 75% opposed to the shutdown instead of just 65%.

Why isn't NC, and indeed all states, doing these drivers license checks on truckers to get the illegal aliens truckers off the road so that they do not endanger Americans? In our state, it is because we have a mini-Mandani, ultra leftist Josh Stein, as our governor, and he panders to illegal aliens.

The Democrat demands to end their shutdown also include restoring funds for sex change surgeries for children. This is disgusting.

Right now there is too much incentive for illegal aliens to want to come. It is good to give them an incentive to leave, but even more important is reducing the incentive to come. Giving them luxury hotel rooms, spending money, and good meals gives them a better lifestyle than they had in their home country. To the extent they have to be put up somewhere, put them in tents inside a perimeter fence and give them very basic mess hall meals. Reduce the incentives to come. Make it a tough and miserable life for them. Most of them are not real refugees. They are con men and freeloaders.

Democrats are also demanding money in the budget for barbaric "sex reassignment" surgeries for children - genital mutilation of children.

Our country cannot afford the spendthrift antics of the Democrats. They want to pay for health care for illegal aliens that the American taxpayer should not be responsible for, and they want to make permanent some Covid medical subsidies that are expiring because Biden proposed them as "temporary".
The one good thing about what the Democrats are doing is that not having a budget will allow President Trump to eliminate some of the unnecessary Deep State deadwood in our federal government.

Great question by you RINO Hunter.
I actually hate that statement of qualification of work, because only Liberals, Leftists and RINOs ever state that premise that suggests some work is either not honorable, or too physically arduous for some people to participate in by gaining a skill, or money to sustain themselves from performing a valuable service, which of course was the natural order of life until the Obama /Biden Administration. If you think about it, much changed during the Obama /Biden administrations, and it is frightening for our society because many of the terrible systemic societal problems that exist among the Leftists began then, when the "ultra cool" Barack Hussein Obama was elected in 2008, which lent much credence to the grand stupidity of the "Social Justice Warrior."

Now, the state Board of Educational Examiners has revoked the administrators license of that illegal alien school superintendent. www.breitbart.com
Apparently, he had been a distance runner on the Guyana Olympic team. I guess he could not run fast enough to outrun ICE.

Real immigrants, those who come legally by following the law, are not allowed to receive any welfare, including Medicaid for 5 years after arrival, and have to post a bond from an American citizen to be responsible that they not be a burden on American taxpayers. With illegal aliens, nobody posts such a bond for them, but they are not supposed to get welfare, including medical benefits. One problem there is that they can get short term "emergency" Medicaid for an acute condition, and many local social service offices just keep extending that.
Another problem is that if they qualify for asylum, they CAN get any welfare benefits including Medicaid, which is one of the reasons most of them apply for asylum even thought they really do not qualify. There needs to be a real crackdown on bogus asylum claims. Also, under the international treaties if they enter the US from a "safe" country like Mexico or Canada, they are not even entitled to asylum, and it should be routinely denied on that basis alone. The other problem is that hospitals are legally required to serve anyone who shows up at the Emergency Room, and illegal aliens all know that method of mooching free health care. This should be cut off by law because it drives up medical costs and medical insurance for American citizens to subsidize this "free" care. Mostly, these illegal alien parasites need to be rounded up and sent home where they belong.

Commented on Harvard professor teams with House Dems to spend your taxes on research promoting trans youth violenceBeginning in Obama's second term, USAID became little more than a slush fund for the far left, financing radical activities both domestically and abroad. Genuine foreign aid was largely abandoned. It is a good thing that President Trump has neutered that renegade agency, and that a Supreme Court ruling last week upheld his doing so.

Watch out, North Carolina. RINOs Phil Berger and Tim Moore have done the same to us with HB951, NC's Green New Deal. It's mandates on wind and solar are worse than those of the European Union. Who knows if they were pandering to woke energy monopoly Duke Energy or to Roy Cooper, both of whom were pushing for that, but Berger and Moore sure screwed NC consumers.
