On the subject of the FISA Bill of all things, Bub Bob felt obliged to state that, "In pre civil war south there were no free blacks. Africans were property...[concluding with a racist personal attack]."

I'm wondering why left-wing zealots think they have the right to tell such fantastical lies and when called out on it respond by saying OTHERS have a "sick outlook on the human condition." I guess hypocrisy abounds in the 21st century. The truth still matters.

So, in his mind, free black slave owners like William Ellison, Anthony Johnson, Nathaniel Butler, Justus Angel, Marie Therese Metoyer, Antoine Dubuclet, Andrew Durnford and John C. Stanly, to name a few, could not have existed in his delusional far-left narrative.

Poor Little Bobbie. His woke ideology tells him that all whites are "oppressors" and all "people of color" are "oppressed". Therefore, he feels obligated to deny historical fact that a large number of southern blacks before the War Between the States were actually free blacks, and some of those free blacks were actually slaveowners themselves ("oppressers"?). He will deny historical fact until he is blue in the face to defend his rabid "woke" ideology.

Free blacks had control of their own lives and many of them joined the Confederate army and navy, like Moses Dallas, a black Confederate naval officer on the ironclad CSS Savannah, who was instrumental in planning and helped lead one of the most daring exploits of the war, the capture of the Union warship USS Waterwitch while it was on blockade duty off Savannah in a surprise nighttime attack boarding from small boats. Dallas, a free black man had worked as a harbor pilot for the port of Savannah before joining the navy.

Bobbie might be surprised to learn that in 1860, there were more free blacks in the South than there were in the North - 261,000 in the South compared to 226,000 in the North.

When I was growing up, the KKK was regarded as a bunch of meatheads that nobody had any respect for. If they put out anything on history, they must have copied it from somebody else.

It is simple enough to learn the truth about free blacks in the antebellum South. Go find a library that has copies of the US census of 1860, 1850, 1840, and earlier and you will find the numbers of whites, free blacks, and slaves per county. Why does this surprise anyone? Bobbie is a climate alarmist and they are notorious for denying and covering up facts that get in the way of their narrative. Remember "HIde the Decline" from the Climategate email dump?

Many black southerners were in the Confederate army. 20% of southern blacks in 1861 were free blacks and they were as interested in defending their country as southern whites. The military pension rolls of southern states in the 1890s confirm that. Since your ideology will not accept such facts, maybe you will listen to one of the great black abolitionists of the period, Frederick Douglass, who wrote in 1861:
"It is now pretty well established, that there are at the present moment many colored men in the Confederate army doing duty not only as cooks, servants and laborers, but as real soldiers, having muskets on their shoulders, and bullets in their pockets, ready to shoot down loyal troops, and do all that soldiers may to destroy the Federal Government and build up that of the traitors and rebels. There were such soldiers at Manassas"
