News Release:

On Thursday night at the Beaufort County Republican Club, former US Paratrooper Jeremy D. Adams announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for North Carolina House of Representatives District 6 which includes Dare, Hyde, Washington and the majority part of Beaufort County.

Jeremy returned from a combat tour in the Doura Province of Baghdad in 2010. He served in the Infantry in the 30th Heavy Combat Brigade (eastern North Carolina) and in the 82nd Airborne Division (2nd Battalion of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment and 3rd Battalion of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment).

The platform that Jeremy is running is based on sound economic principles to improve the standard of living of eastern North Carolinians. "In order for our economy to thrive, we have to have an environment that allows current businesses to continue to succeed and grow, for new start ups to have an easier time getting over the bureaucratic hurdles and for the tax environment to be so favorable that outside businesses will want to move here," Jeremy continued, "but jobs alone won't make the cut alone if people are priced out of their homes because of unfair government controlled insurance. The market should be able to handle each individual home's situation with multiple competitive options. Instead, we have a situation where a small group of privileged insurance companies are able to merely lobby a government agency to raise our rates. That whole situation is just absurd. Any insurance company should be able to compete and offer their product to individuals at the best possible market rate, not a rate arbitrarily decided by lobbyists and bureaucrats. Just one of a multitude of issues where central economic planning is crushing the life out of us."

Jeremy was elected by the citizens of Dare County in 2012 to serve as Dare County Soil & Water District Conservation Supervisor. He is President of Regent University Young Americans for Liberty and Chairman of the Outer Banks Young Professional Republicans club.

Jeremy is a licensed Real Estate Broker who works for Elan Vacations which manages vacation properties in the northern Outer Banks. He also owns a small production company and is a fellow in an economic public policy fellowship.

Jeremy says that his motivation for running is his 13 year old son, Noah, and a quote from his kin John Adams in a letter to Abigail Adams in 1780, "I must study politics and war so that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture, in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain."
