Press Release:

Customers concerned with getting the most value for their money are looking more critically at service than anything else in a restaurant. As a result, service continues to be one of the main complaints of diners.

To help local restaurant owners concerned with the effects of good, bad and indifferent service on their businesses, the Small Business Center at Beaufort County Community College will offer a workshop on restaurant service 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, May 22, in Room 828 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus.

Instructor Robert H. Doe will lead a discussion on the two distinct components of service, the basic service steps, ways an operator can assure superlative service and the knack of dealing with complaints.

He will walk participants through the art of service from the perspective of a server, an operator and a customer so that every detail can be evaluated.

Doe has over 30 years of restaurant and facilities experience, including the management of one of Boston's largest function facilities and its largest night club. He is an accomplished corporate entrepreneur with experience in development, launching and managing profitable businesses including those in hospitality.

It is offered free of charge but to ensure seating and to allow for the preparation of materials, participants are asked to contact Eva Peartree at (252) 940-6375 or by email at evap@beaufortccc.edu or Lentz Stowe, director of BCCC's Business and Industry Services at (252) 940-6306 or by email at lentzs@beaufortccc.edu.

The workshop is also sponsored by the Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce.

For more information about other services offered by BCCC's Business and Industry Services' Small Business Center, including targeted seminars for business owners, visit BCCC's Website at www.beaufortccc.edu/coned/Small Business/workshops.htm or contact Stowe or Lauren Spruill, customized training coordinator, at (252) 940-6311 or by email at laurens@beaufortccc.edu.
