    Ms. Catherine Elizabeth Romanczyk Vann, age 61, a resident of Chocowinity died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Ms. Catherine was born in Portsmouth, Va. on May 6. 1952, daughter of the late Joseph John Romanczyk and Shirley Elaine Barr Romanczyk. She was a 1970 graduate of Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Va. and a 1971 graduate of Leigh Memorial School of Nursing. Ms. Catherine was a hard working mother who worked as an LPN, a realtor and at National Spinning.

    Ms. Catherine is survived by her two children, Shirley Mason of Athens, TN and Jeremy McHargue and his wife Brooke of Chocowinity, six grandchildren, Kathryne Newbold, Adam Newbold, Jasmine McHargue, Sierra McHargue, Jenna McHargue, Hanna McHargue, two great grandchildren, Landon Robinson and Trevor Robinson, a brother Frank Spady III of Yuma, AZ, three sisters Victoria Cron of Elizabeth City, Joann Holmes of Chesapeake, Va., and Rosemary Romanczyk of Chesapeake, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother John Romanczyk.

    A memorial service will be held 4:30 pm Friday, May 2, 2014 in the Chapel at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Judy Anderson. The family will receive friends after the service and other times at the home of Jeremy McHargue at 41 Hudson Farm Ave. in Chocowinity.
