Obituary: Mr. Daniel Augusta “Danny” Davis | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Daniel Augusta “Danny” Davis of 797 Elm St., Belhaven, N.C., died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Northeast Elementary School, 21000 Hwy 264, Pinetown, N.C., with Elder James Stanley officiating. Burial, with military honors, Northside Cemetery, Belhaven, N.C.

    “Danny” was born on Sept. 17, 1956, the son of the late Augusta and Mary Martin Davis of the Leechville Community, Belhaven. He was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School, class of 1974. He also attended the Beaufort County Community College. Danny attended the Saint Paul Church of Christ-Disciples of Christ at Leechville. He served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge.

   Mr. Davis was an employee of Coeur Inc. Washington, N.C. In the Belhaven Community, he was a member of the SCLC and a past Softball Coach. He was married to Phyllis Gibbs Davis, who survives. Also surviving are, two daughters, Eva Gibbs, Washington, N.C.; Mekia Spencer, (Sgt. Shelton A. Spencer) Fayetteville, N.C.; two sons, Domonique Gibbs, Belhaven; Sgt. Daniel D. Gibbs (Patricia) Hinesville, Ga.; two sisters, Carol I. Lanior and Sgt. Larrine Mackey (retired) of Belhaven; mother-in-law Verda Branch Gibbs, Washington, N.C., step-mother-in-law Inez Sykes, Belhaven, Goddaughter, Janeeta Palmer, Baltimore, Md. Also surviving are grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
