Brilliance in three parts --- a more reasoned discussion of Conservative views | Eastern North Carolina Now

The post only deals with abject Conservatism vs. A view showing knowledge of both sides of the equation.

Before having my deep south conservatism challenged at Emory, I was "unexamined." The Emory challenge was good for me.

I went next to Southeastern Seminary for challenges in religion. Where I viewed it as simply widening my understanding of scripture and church history, other fellow classmates declared it "liberal." I had been at Emory when Thomas J.J. Altizer got us on the cover of Time with his "God Is Dead" stuff---now that was "liberal" and the typical Southern Baptist had no clue!!!

Another example of conservative within liberal was a Emory guy who put together an "Affirmation Viet Nam" rally at the Atlanta Stadium. It was well attended and show how us Southerners salute and cheer the red-white- and-blue when the radicals in California were going after "free love / MJ & LSD / abject protest against the war.

It is interesting how the game of life and politics plays out. That is well-reflected in the PBS "The Roosevelts" series clearly shows. That which is "conservative" becomes "liberal" --- and the hate goes on when people have no real clue what either really means!

My most Conservative high school class mate, Tony Adams, with Viet Nam service and good mind posts this to me FIRST:

Subject: Brilliance in three parts

Part I ....

      A. Back off and let those men who want to marry men, marry men.

      B. Allow those women who want to marry women, marry women.

      C. Allow those folks who want to abort their babies, abort their babies.

      D. In three generations, there will be no Democrats.

I love it when a plan comes together!

Part II:

10 Poorest Cities in America and how did it happen?

City, State, % of People Below the Poverty Level

      1. Detroit , MI 32.5%

      2. Buffalo , NY 29.9%

      3. Cincinnati , OH 27.8%

      4. Cleveland , OH 27.0%

      5. Miami , FL 26.9%

      5. St. Louis , MO 26.8%

      7. El Paso , TX 26.4%

      8. Milwaukee , WI 26.2%

      9. Philadelphia , PA 25.1%

      10. Newark , NJ 24.2%

   •  What do the top ten cities (over 250,000) with the highest poverty Rate all have in common?

   •  Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961

   •  Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn't elected one since 1954

   •  Cincinnati, OH - (3rd) since 1984

   •  Cleveland, OH - (4th) since 1989

   •  Miami, FL - (5th) has never had a Republican mayor

   • ; St. Louis, MO - (6th) since 1949

   •  El Paso, TX - (7th) has never had a Republican mayor

   •  Milwaukee, WI - (8th) since 1908

   •  Philadelphia, PA - (9th) since 1952

   •  Newark, NJ - (10th) since 1907

Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.'

It is the poor who habitually elect Democrats...yet they are still POOR.

Part III:

   •  "You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

   •  You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

   •  You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

   •  You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

   •  You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

   •  You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.

   •  You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could should do for themselves."     - Abraham Lincoln

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the government take care of him had better take a closer look at the American Indian."     - Henry Ford

The best thing I can say about the next few weeks leading up to the Mid-term Election is that Media gets rich / we need to get real about who and what we are as Americans / enjoy it while it lasts ~~~ what the heck will we have to entertain us after we get whatever leaders we get!!!

Becoming Alabama? Hey, at least we're not becoming CHARLOTTE. Far Left of Center, Editorials, Op-Ed & Politics NCSEN: Sabato says race “Leans Democrat,” Tillis “stuck”
