Walter R. Flynn | Eastern NC Now

    Walter Riley Flynn, age 79, a resident of US Hwy 264 E., Pantego, NC, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his home.

    Walter was born in Pantego, NC on April 30, 1935 son of the late Everett Flynn, Sr. and Mary Ann Griffin Flynn. He graduated Pantego High School and attended North Carolina A & T. Walter served his country in the United States Air Force. He was married to Melva May Sewell Flynn who survives. Walter was a train operator for the NYC Transit Authority, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Beaufort County Alumni Association and the Free Mason Society.

    In addition to his wife Melva, Walter is survived by his children, Kevin L. Flynn of Brooklyn, NY and Nesby Medina Flynn of El Paso, TX; his brothers, Gene R. Flynn of Orlando, FL, Robert L. Flynn of Newark, DE, and Harry L. Flynn of Fairfax, VA; his sisters, Rosa B. Reddick and Roberta Slade of Pantego, NC, Matricia McCoy, and Marian Gadsden of Clayton, DE; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

    In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Ford and his brother, Everett Flynn, Jr.

    A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Beaufort County Alumni Building, Pantego, NC. The family will receive friends at the home. Burial will be at a later date.
